Hello everybody! Got a Alvarez a/e used and right before a gig changed out the battery by unscrewing and taking out the controls. Now I have no electric capabilities. Checked the wires and they seem to be fine and connected. What the hell did I do wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have to agree with what Last_Rebel said, if it's you trying to convey a feeling to your girl, then make it come from YOU! Write your own song with your own words, not only will this rock her socks off but your gonna have a hard time finding the right song that says how you feel. And also, when a woman not a girl gives you advice, LISTEN and let it really sink in. Good luck and always remember when you write what you feel it comes from you and your thoughts. She'll appreciate it more than anything and will always remember that day/night that you sang her a song that you wrote about her. One last thing be sure to thank everyone for their input, even if it wasn't what you were looking for, they took the time to give you advice and tried to help. That's what people do here......til ya piss 'em off! Ahh, to be 15 and in love....no thanks, lol.

Hey Jaynie, are talking about the c9 in the chord chart of this site? If so, they are diamonds and it means open string. Tho, sometimes it is an "0" or "o". But also, some tab for songs have diamonds over frets that do mean harmonics. Hope I helped you.

I have to agree with everyone, is up to ourselves to be the guides as to what we say, do, listen to, watch and more so what we put out into the world. And it's not just about age or what should be considered dangerous for some to view or hear. Remember everything you say, do, watch, listen to everything has a way of coming back to you. For example, you write a song and it's heard by many or even just a few, if they like it they will repeat what they heard. So if singing about killing or harming someone in such a way it will be listened to and repeated many times over and will eventualy reach someone who may not know if it's real of just you venting frustrations. But I as well as everyone else who has posted about this don't want somone telling me what I can watch, listen to, say or think or feel. I have always believed this and live my life this way. I do try to watch my mouth around certain company, but sometimes a few colorful obscenities will slip, especially dealing with my daughters mother, but that's another story. Basically it's up to everyone to think for themselves and to govern themselves, not anyone else. When we stop or lose the ability to think for ourselves, that's when civilization fails and government takes more control of our everyday lives. So think for yourselves and do what you think is right. But at the same time don't be afraid to speak your mind, just find an intelligent way to convey your thoughts aound those easily offended or easily influenced. Also, maybe this is just me, but sometimes you just need to say FUNK'EM ALL! Rock on good people!

thanks last rebel that helped. And no I have not heard child of mine. But I'll look it up.

p.s.owen4774 I absolutly love the song nutshell!!!!!

It's such an awesome song! One of my fav. bands of all time, definetely in my top 5. The whole ep Jar of Flies was/is an incredible collection of great music. It's so bare boned and you can listen to it at any given time, no matter what your mood. Also, if your checking out Guns N Roses, look into the song Patience, I think it's off the EP "Lies". Enjoy and glad to hear someone else likes the song "Nutshell", cool!

Would have to agreee, it's a very difficult question with so many great song's to choose from. However....

1. Nutshell- Alice in Chains
2. Laid- Matt Nathanson or James but prefer Matt Nathanson's version
3. Sittin on the Dock of the Bay- Otis Redding
4. You Can't Always Get What You Want- Rolling Stones
5. Lenny- Stevie Ray Vaughn

Basically if I were stranded on a desert island, those are my choices to have with me, along with my accoustic and a few bottles of Captain Morgan, Marlboro Lights and an endless supply of guitar strings. I have a tendency to break mine often.  Good question Last_Rebel. Kudos! smile

Would like to thank you all for your encouragement and understanding. Took some advice and tried calling them again to see if they would talk to me and tell me their reasons for replacing me without talking to me and seeing if I could get the answers I was looking for. Just really wanted to know what it was I did, but as before, no one wanted to talk. I left messages and emailed a couple, but still nothing. I guess we don't always get the answers we seek. Then again it could have led to even more questions, but I guess I will never know. Sucks. But thank you all for your input and am glad I know I can talk to people here about thing's. As for joining or forming another band, I just don't know yet. But at least I am practicing and shedding some rust that had gathered, on me as well as my strings. Guess for now it's open mic night's and see what happens. Thanks again, your all good people!

Have only posted a few times here, but love this site and have found people to be very helpful. With that in mind......I was in a cover band here in Toledo for over 2 years, last month I was replaced without any idea it was happening.  I was informed that for 2 months they were looking for a replacement and never even told me why.I was very close to all the guys in the band and thought we were great friends. Since then I have only been able to sit and think about what has happened and everyone I was close with, including people not in the band, I have not seen or heard from. I considered these people my friends and am torn about not only what to do now, but how to move on. I feel like I shouldn't be thinking about going to see them or check them out to see what they are like now, but at the same time there's alot of people that would come to see us and I miss them. I don't want to go there and start trouble or have a "big talk" with my ex-band mates. I wish them well, but to be honest it's been really hard to pick up my guitar and practice. I love playing, the guitar is my fav. instument and the one outlet that makes me feel creative. I can usually just let thing's go, but this has really got to me in a big way. It effected every area of my life. The week after I was kicked out of the band I lost my job and ever since it's been down hill. Needless to say I have not been myself and have been very depressed. The one thing that has brought me happiness, only reminds me of what has happened and frankly I feel betrayed and used. I know, that''s the business we're in when you play in a band and it comes with the territory, but JFC this hurt's and I can't seem to get past it. Anyone else been through this? Anything anyone has to say I will listen to, I don't have anyone to turn to that would understand how I'm feeling and I know some who may be reading this are probably laughing and it's o.k. Just need some advice to get closer to what I was before all this. To be honest this broke my heart.

I have been trying to figure out the song "Hide Your Love Away", I know it's a Beatles song, but all I have is the Eddie Vedder version. The problem is there's a couple chords I can't quite pick out and although I have the tab, I trhink it is incomplete. If anyone knows how to play the song could you point me in the right direction, would much appreciate the help. And my head and the wall I've been banging  it on would be grateful too!

hey what's up folk's? Might as well add my bands name in for the hell of it, we are called Running With Scissors and you can check us out on myspace if you feel like it. Or we have our own website www.scissorzone.com. we have pics and video and some craziness!  There are quite a few bands by that name, but we are a little different than most, mostly because we are a cover band, no originals, but that's not because we don't try, we just don't rememeber any of them, lol.

Since I have been a user and memeber of this community I also have found some of the user names unique and differrent as well as questioned how people came up with them. Nick names, forms of real names or even just actual names. For instance, I had guessed that gitaardocphil was indeed a doctor named phil, was correct to assume that one. I just use that as an example, please don't take offense. And as him, I used part of my rel name, I am owen4774, my birth name is Owen Michael, born 4/7/74 in Toledo, Ohio. It's also my email address minus the hotmail.com part. However, Owen was my first name, Michael my middle, but no one in my family ever called me Owen, always Michael or Mike. Caused alot of confusion when I started going to school, lol. The teacher would ask for Owen and I wouldn't respond, there by making them think I was ignoring them or stupid. Which niether was the case, but anyway, I guess I just wasn't very creative with the name thing, but also figured fenderman might be taken!   LONG LIVE LEO FENDER AND HIS WONDERFUL INSTRUMENT!!!

I had recently posted about a problem I was having with my amp and hope this will help others. The problem was it kept cutting out while I was playing and out of frustration I hit it on top of amp and it would work again. Took it to a shop here in Toledo, Ohio and after being told it would be 2 weeks got a call 8 days later. The tech told me exactly what it was and to my surprise it wasn't anything major or expensive, I needed my input replaced. The guys at PTS did an awesome job and I only had to wait 8 days for the repair to be done. Played a gig last night and can't tell you how much better my amp sounds and looks!! They did a fantastic job and if anyone is from the Toledo area I highly recommend them for all your repairs. They are located on Monroe street across from JOJO'S Pizza and just down the street from the Best Buy on Monroe.

Well, mhebert, I had to try, but understand completely! As for the octopus' garden, great song, but even if they came from a garden they still  wouldn't taste any good. Everyone have a great weekend and thaks for the reply!

to mhebert, will trade stanley cup for RUSH. I think it's a fair offer! But if not I'd be willing to consider throwing in a octopus to sweeten the deal. Cool?

thank you bootlegger, will do, or rather won't do, well you know what I mean.

I have a question to anyone who knows a thing or two about amps. My band played a wedding reception yesterday and right as we were about to begin, my amp wasn't working. The power indicator light was on everything was plugged in correctly, but didn't get any sound. I unplugged my chord from my guitar and touched the end and still no sound or hum, nothing! Out of frustration and embarassment, i hit the top of my amp and wouldn't ya know the damn thing made noise!! I have never had a problem like this before and unfortunately it happened a few more times after that as well. I know the amp is a  little older, but just recently replaced the fuse and I believe the contact, not sure what it is called but it was a small piece that was relatively cheap to replace much like the fuse was. I haven't had this problem before and was wondering if it was a sign of worse thing's to come or maybe a power supply issue or if I  just need to replace my power chord on the amp. If anyone knows what the problem might be a response would be most appreciated!! thank you!
