"As cool and the other side of a pillow" (Joe Cool)

"As wild as a buck fart" (loose living)

"As serious as a heart attack" no explanation needed

"As green as a gourd" (meaning inexperienced person)

"As high as a Georgia pine" (intoxicated)

"As hot as a two-dollar pistol" (usually describing a very attractive female.)

The Outlaw Josey Wales (not sure of spelling) with Clint Eastwood.

If I read your request correctly, you want "Carolina Girls" by the Chairmen of the Board. Wish I could help. I've been looking for chords on this song for about 6 months. No luck so far. (Girlfriend is from Carolina".

What? No one mentioned the great Chuck Berry song "Maybelline" '....Cadillac rolling on a open road, couldn't nothing outrun my V-8 Ford....."

Bluegrass.....Seldom Scene "Some Morning Soon"

Great Thread!  I am a computer technician for a small all women's college in central Virginia. I've been working with computers since 1966. Super Geek! But I love 'attempting' to play my Taylor.

Not certain, but could this be the song you're looking for?

Would like to have the chords/lyrics for this song. I know "Seldom Scene" performs it, and maybe "Country Gentlemen".

62----Born Danville, Virginia Oct. 24, 1945. I've been 'attempting' to play for sometime. Just recently found the time to devote to practice.

I too am and old newbie. 62 to be exact. I took lessons about 10 years ago for a while. Didn't like my progress and stopped all together. My wife at the time, bought me a Taylor. I still have the Taylor, not the wife.

I live near Lynchburg Virginia and am really enjoying 're-learning' a few chords and making some noise.

This is a great website. I have learned a lot since I found it about a month ago.

Thanks guys for such a good job.

I know that in a lot of songs, especially Bluegrass, there is a 'Walk up to G". Exactly how is that accomplished. I think it sounds really cool, but have not been  playing long enough to figure out the pattern. Could someone explain 'Walk up to G' to me?

Thanks,

I recently found this website. Being a newbie to playing, I think I have found a treasure trove of information. Thanks for such a great place to 'hang out.'  From most of the posts I've read, sounds like most people are great. I have been in other site forums where this is always one A-hole that grumbles or finds fault with everyone else. Not here.

If you think chittlin's doesn't sound appetiziing, you should smell them cooking! Disgusting, foul stench of an outhouse.

I am a newbie (older newbie). I can play several chords and can make the changes fairly well especially playing A D E, D G A, E A B7. G C D.Now I want to work on strumming patterns but I don't have a clue as to what to do. I want to play old Rock,(Beatles),Country (1980-1990's music), and some Blues (Delbert McClinton type). How does one pick a strumming pattern? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is causing frustration in my attempt to play a recognizable song.

I don't know the first album, but the first record I received was "Blueberry Hill" by Fats Domino. Christmas gift, along with a phono player from Mom and Dad. Think it was 1955

BLT---Virginia version:

2 slices of whole wheat bread (not that white stuff)

Dukes mayonaise spread on each slice of bread. (Hellman's mayo if you can't find Dukes. And definitly not low fat)

Home grown tomato (sliced somewhat less than 1/4 inch). Store bought tomatos are just not flavorful enough.

3 or 4 slices of fried bacon. (I prefer the maple flavored Hormel brand)

Fresh lettuce. Nice Romaine is better than iceberg.

Option: sliced onion.

Accompany this with a glass of iced tea.

You know this sandwich is real good, if the mayonaise and tomato juicies run down your hands and onto your forearm.

Ummmmmm Good. Great summertime faire.

I love 'beach music' but I find tabs/chords hard to find. Does anyone have a source for these chords?

Thanks

I am taking lessons. During the last lesson, the instructor showed the class (8 of us) what he said was the "Major C Scale".
Because I had to hand print what he said, I wanted a printout that was easier to read. I 'googled' Guitar:C Major Scale and rec'd a nubmer of responses. As I was looking at the responses, I noticed that each example of the C Major Scale was slightly different.

Could someone give me the real C Major Scale for the guitar?

Thanks,
