Mercedes, Tx in the Rio Grande Valley ( Tip-O-Texas). This is where the winter Texans come to call home during winter. Palm trees and cool breeze cuz it's always 80 degrees! 8 miles from the border.

I would love to know how many nations are represented on Chordie? Maybe if anyone reading this could please reply to this post with a simple response something like below I would be thankful. I only need a rough indication not an exact.

Peatle, Johnsonville, Wellington, New Zealand. Bottom of North Island, New Zealand. The North Island and the South Island of NZ  is separated by the Cook Strait. Wellington is the Capital city of NZ.

Well awesome those are good specs. curious if that harddrive is an ssd or hard disk drive. And everyone has got to go through the win 11 learning curve. It's just the way it is. Every six months or so take a can of compressed air. open up the case and give it a good dusting. It will keep performing at it's peak if it is staying cool. Any questions feel free.

It's aDell Optiplex with Win 11 Pro. 16 gigs ram, 500 or so memory. My old PC was Win10 . I kept the 1 terabyte external drive which has all my pics and songs. I know it's a referb but it looks brand new and faster than a rat up a drain pipe! Also a lot cheaper than a new one. I did lose Ableton DAW and another one which was too complicated for me anyway. So I've down loaded Audacity which still needs a bit of tweeking from me, any help would be gratefully received.  Thanks again. Phill

As long as the ssd has the main operating system the HDD is great for storing all your stuff. I too actually use a 2 TB HDD for all my stuff. Good luck.

Thanks once again Doug, your input is always welcome and mostly helpful,,, truth be told I'm a plug and play type of silver surfer so though I love tech I'm more confused by it than comfortable. When the time comes I will pull up your post again and go step by step. Thank you my friend.

Riverdalesd, good to hear from you. I've pretty much given up on minis, you've consolidated my thoughts on that. I've seen a lot of Dell rebuilds on Amazon, the ones I've read up on have SSD and HDD built in along with a DVDdrive, all I want it for is day to day stuff like storing my writings and photos plus emails and stuff, all very basic as you can tell. I'm not a gamer apart from Freecell,.

Richard, I'm kinda working on a budget so having all I want built in so I don't have to pay out on periforals is key. The family came to visit Perth a few years ago when the temp was over 40° C, the beach was very welcome and the bottle shops...lol

Hope I'm not too late and you already purchased. We are no longer living in hard disk drive era and if you are it's time for you to upgrade. Even the SSD which is fairly new is being pushed to the side by the newer faster bigger storage size NVME flash drives. I've seen some of these newer small form factor or mini's and the specs are outstanding. For the first few months. As soon as you start downloading and saving pictures videos BAM it slows down to a crawl or even worse blue screen of death. I work with pc's everday for lots of businesses. we don't ever recommend minis. But for some reason they choose to go the mini way and then like clockwork the tickets start coming in. I believe that packaging all this equipment in such a small package just makes the computer start to bake itself. So I would say no don't go the mini way and if you don't want to go full blown monster desktop there's a middle ground. You can buy something like a dell optiplex. Now i can't say which model out of the thousands that dell has because that would come down to your budget and what you plan to do with it. So let's say something like a dell optiplex 7000 series small form factor but it's inbetween mini and monster desktop. Also you get what you pay for and i cannot stress that enough. But...ah man this is difficult because the advertising sometimes makes a top of the line pc seem so great but it will suck and you could have gone cheaper for a better pc. I can continue but as technology just booms, it's just crazy. If you tell me what your looking for and what you will be using it for I can recommend something that will at least give you 5 to 8 years worth of tech life expectancy rather than the 2 to 3. Hope that wasn't to to long and somewhat helpful but my mind was racing with so many directions i could go with type of processor, ram size, battery capacity, integrated graphics or pcix16 graphics cards, fan cooling, water cooling, Solid state drive , nvme flash drives,  power supply wattage WOOOOOOO!! I feel like building a new pc now!!!  (DO NOT GO MAC)!!

Icka_E. Please check that you are typing in the user name and password correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you could nog loj in sometimes it's good to check each letter you are typing. Also what operating system are you on? I'm assuming it's win 10 or win 11. If it's a mac please disconnect the power chord and throw it in the nearest dumpster. If at all possible please light the dumpster on fire afterwards.
*disclaimer* I do not condone the lighting on fire of useful and public dumpsters!

Excellent advise Doug_Smith. Delete cookies and browsing history. Then turn your computer off and on again. Please if still having issues, what search engine do you use and what operating system are you currently on. I'm going to assume it's win 10 or 11. If your using a mac disconnect the power chord, pick up your mac and toss it in the nearest dumpster. If at al possible set dumpster on fire.
*disclaimer* my advise here is only for enjoyment purposes and in no way do I condone lighting useful dumpsters on fire!

I've been plucking and callusing since 08 so my acoustic/electric/acoustic journey has been 14 yrs. I can play any chord you throw at me and I can tune my guitar by ear!!! Your teacher is funny. ("my teacher told me not to fret") ha ha. It's memorization techniques the community uses I am interested in. I don't want to play one song to death trying to learn it then I hate it. Welcome to Chordie! I learned to play guitar here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think so but that's ok. Think of it like a clean slate. Add the ones you remember and now you can add new songs. Welcome back to Chordie!

Actually that sounds so EZ it just might work! The chorus/hook is always the same. The verses are the same except for the lyrics if it's a good song, if not you'll be repeating baby baby baby the whole song. Nice first suggestion on memorization and i'm gonna give it a go.

It's been quite a while since I've posted anything but this thread caught my eye.  I've always had a knack for remembering lyrics and at age 72 I'm surprised that the ability hasn't left.  When I play out I only carry  a notebook with names of songs that I play.  I just looked through it and have a list of 65 of the songs that I've written and 68 covers that I like playing.  Some of them I haven't played for a long time but I estimate I could play 58 of my songs and 64 of the covers and remember all the lyrics. My issue for some songs is remembering what key to play it in and the chord progressions.  sad

When I learn a song I first concentrate on remembering the chorus/hook. Nearly all the songs I play have verses that are similar to chapters in a book or story that relate to the hook, so  I then try to remember some key words in each verse that are easy to recall and trigger my memory of how the story "flows".  Works for me. Your mileage may vary.

That is so true. Songs back in the day told a story. Every Verse was different from the next from beginning to end. Now adays it should be ez to remember a song because now songs don't even have verses. All they have is the chorus /hook over and over again. One of my old time favs that i'd love to know and just play anytime is He stopped loving her today by George Jones, or I've always been crazy by Merle Haggard. I can sing along with every word but learning the song chords beginning to end eludes my HIPPOCAMPUS. (I googled that). I would really rather not walk into a nice place that has talent night and pull out my sheet music so i can just drop it all over the floor then have to pick it up in front of an amused audience. One thing I have done just at friends houses or little i mean little like 5,6 people get togethers is put my phone on a guitar phone holder that i hope to find again one day and open chordie, choose a song and set it to scroll. I played Letter to Elise by the cure to a very appreciative audience who wanted more. Hope someone has the memorization trick out of all our chordies out there!!!

Like Phill, A lot of the songs I play, I've been playing for decades.

I find that most songs tell a story. When I set out to learn a new one, I'll just read through it a number of times to get the story line in my head. Once the story is seared into my leaky brain, I'll work on putting the music and lyrics together.

Happy New Years Everyone!!!!! I love a whooooole buuunch of songs and i like to play them all. But there are certain songs that i wish I could have memorized and just play on demand. I guess my problem is that since i love to play alot of songs i can't always just stay on one. I'm sure some answers will say just play one song over and over but that will just take the fun out of the song. Anyone have special techniques they use to memorize songs!!!!

That's sounds fun. I started in carpentry very young and enjoy building. Ended up in I.T. as life throws us in different directions, but building and making stuff is awesome. Especially when you step back to look at your creation. Nice maybe some pics!
