Does anyone know a good way to meet fellow learning players?

It can get quite boring playing on your own, and my only friends who play all now live well out the way.

Is there a website specially designed for this sort of thing?

Finding a place in your area that host an open mic night would be a good way to start, as well as this thread. You coulkd also try craigslist under musicans. Hope this is of some help.

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for ( or how close to Portsmouth ), but some Music shops run Weekend Warrior sessions to bring together people who want to play together.
