Topic: Esteban Guitar Package

I am thinking about ordering one of those Esteban, learn to play guitar packages. Does anyone have one of these or heard if they are any good or not? I am new to guitar, and this seems like a good package for a beginner like myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

I did look into the Esteban guiars when I was upgrading my own starter guitar. It wasn't quite what I was looking for,but for a first owner it seems like a great starter. If you google Esteban guitars you will find alot of Q and A sites that will help answer any questions youmight have.

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

I started playing a few weeks ago and was going to buy one of those as well. As it turns out by buddy started out with one of those, and he loaned me his he now has a few guitars and dug this one out of the closet. I use it for practice every day and it seems ok and it has a LOT of mileage on it. The DVD's are interesting too (he still had them)

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

I would not recommend esteban guitars to anyone, unless they are pretty sure they aren't going to like playing, in that case they just shouldn't get a guitar. I've played on some of them (new ones) and the strings were way too far away from the neck up in the higher area, the action was rediculously high. The Esteban guitars are designed to take advantage of novice players. They are extremely low quality, but that kind of thing is difficult to tell if you are a beginner. If you want a good starter guitar, get a yamaha or some brand of guitar that isn't being sold by a complete phony, depending on which store you go to.

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

Absolute crap. It's a very low quality product worth only half of what it costs. The other half of what you pay for it goes for that annoying info-mercial that's on almost every late night T.V. station. I personally know several people who have fell victim to the "scam' and all involved regret their decision to buy this "balsa wood toy".

Give everything but up.

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

But, it might be worth it if it came with the cool Zorro hat and sunglasses

if you could get the hat and glasses they would probably be cheaply made too...

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

Hi, if you're just starting out go to your local music shop, they always have low priced guitars for novices, you can try some out or they'll play them for you, they'll give you advice if asked and they won't take you for a ride because they'll want you to buy accessories and more guitars from them when your an ace player. Good luck and enjoy your guitar playing.

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

Thanks for all the advice. I took the advice of getting a name brand guitar. Went to a local music store and bought a fender dg8 package deal. I am very satisfied and am very glad I took this route. Thanks again.

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

That's an interesting comment to me, cause mine plays very well. I've been playing electric guitar for almost 20 years, and decided to try out on acoustic about 6 months ago. It's just like starting from scratch, which is good, but also not so good, if you know what I mean. lol.

Anyway, I got the electric/acoustic Esteban guitar, and I'm quite pleased with it. Granted, it doesn't have the sound or action of an $800 Ovation, but then again I only paid $200 for the guitar, amp and DVD package. Action is good, sound is excellent. A number of my friends have tried it, and they were quite impressed, as well.

Maybe you just got a lower-quality one out of the line, possibly? I mean, I've seen top-dollar Fenders that play and sound like crap, too, so sometimes a guitar is just a matter of luck, and how it feels to the individual.

Based on the quality of mine, I would say that it's actually a name-brand guitar, but because it has a few cosmetic flaws, it was re-sold out to another company to put their name on.

BTW, I thought Esteban was a self-created character just trying to cash in novice guitar players, too, but if you check out one of his videos, you'll find the guy is an AMAZING classical guitarist.

PS - BTW, I do NOT work estaban, inc., although it may sound like it But I, for one, am very pleased with this particular model. It's an Esteban American Legacy Master Class Cutaway Guitar Model No. ALC-200. I defintely would not agree that its master-class, but for the money I'm quite pleased. The DVD's are ok, I guess, but they're not the reason I bought it, so...

The one I bought was from this site, if anyone is interested in seeing which one it is:

Just my two cents. Have a good day, all.

Re: Esteban Guitar Package

Dude I just about crapped my pants laughing when I saw "Esteban" It reminds me of his stupid commercials "Well I was in a plane wreck and I made this guitar out of my dead friends arm, and now I want to sell it to you" or something like that. It's hilarious. If you buy crap from him, you will be sorry.
