Zurf I looked at the paste and everything is where its supposed to be but Chordie dose not host anything so you cant use a link to anything on Chordie if its a photo it has to be an off site url smile

I knew it wouldn't work.

She is a lovely hippie chick, too, Selso.  Congratulations on finding a good one to share your life with.

It is.  It's hosted on a Google photo site.  Just for some reason the way that site builds the URLs, Chordie nor any other forum I'm on likes it.  I'll try Selso's advice, but I did put the beginning tag on.  I don't why it didn't show up, but only put in a red x box where a picture belonged and didn't show the [img]characters.  Go figure.

Edit: Tried again by recutting and pasting the photo link.  It just isn't working.  I tried using Flickr for a time and hated it.  I guess I need to get a pay site like SmugMug to back up my photos.

I'll try it one last time and take the http:// out.  Sometimes that chokes some programs.  Not sure why, but it does.

Edit 2:  Nope. That didn't work either.  Tried taking out the http:// and tried putting in the www.  Maybe I'll try again with both http:// and www in the address.  I'm going to have to work late to make up all this time I'm wasting trying to figure this out.

Edit 3:  Nope.  Well, joke's on you all because it's a cute picture of a couple four year olds really belting it out from their "stage".

Edit 4:  HOLD EVERYTHING!!!  There's a little tiny clicky button on the side of my photo site that says "link to this picture".  Hmmmm, maybe I should try the "link to this picture" clicky button when I'm trying to link to the photo.  It's just crazy enough to work!  Here goes nothing...

Re: PHOTOS OF MEMBERS

I'll be darned.  That was completely not obvious.

Here's another one to test whether it's a fluke.  My buddy Herschel at a jam session.  If you have an exceptional memory, you may remember him as the object of ridicule in one of my very, very few songs, "Herschel's Campfire Song."  Dave's behind him on bass.  He doesn't look the type, but that guy is one heck of a metalhead bassist.

I'll have to get home first, but I'll try and remember to put up one of Detman101 and Jets60 in my backyard.  Man, that was fun.

Re: PHOTOS OF MEMBERS

Here's one of me in the garden playing my new Ozark "Hot Club" acoustic. It's the one I mentioned in the other thread in the "Acoustic" section about wider neck guitars.
I'll upload a sound file so you can hear what she sounds like. It's taken me a while to sort out a decent mic and to practice something to play. It takes a while to get used to the feel of a new guitar and play a piece you've got used to playing on a different guitar. Should be ready in a few days.
We've had some warm sunny days here in Wales just lately. This after a really wet and miserable summer.

Thanks Russell.
Phill lives not far away - I'm not sure which town he lives in but from what he has said in his posts it must be somewhere about 30 miles west of here.
I'm sure you could fit nylon strings. The reason I bought this was for the wider neck. It's just under 2 inches and suits my playing better. I find the narrower necks difficult for my rather large fingers.
I have a nylon string classical that I play a lot but I wanted a steel string with a similar feel. This one is just the ticket!

Re: PHOTOS OF MEMBERS

A quick little instructional... cuz some of you guys make my laugh my buns off!  wink

If you click below the post box on any of the links you will come to this page Forum help topics which will tell you how to do some basic stuff on this forum and others.  To collect the proper url for an image so you can post it in between the img tags find the photo you like and right click on the photo and

1. if you're using google chrome :  select "copy image url"
2. if you're using internet explorer : don't use it anymore it's junk... seriously, ok then after you right click on the picture select "properties" and a box will open up.  Look to the right of where it says address and highlight that entire thing, next while holding down the "ctrl" button on your keyboard hit the "c" button --- this copies the url of the picture

3.  come here and type the img tag, then holding down "ctrl" hit the "v" button on your keyboard to paste the url into place then end the tag.  It will look something like this:

 [img]http://www.UrlToImgPastedHere[/img]

and as everyone has said before, get a free account thru flicker or any one of the thousands of free hosting sites online to put your pics in one place and then you'll be able to share your lovely mugs and beautiful guitars all over chordie.

Mods... if you want to remove this "instructional" and put it somewhere else I would totally not be offended by that.

I'll take the help with guitars while I'm here and happily share my limited computer and online knowledge in return.

Here ya go bensonp
I used the "direct link" address along with the [ img ]codes

Another hint for those attempting. Instead of using the "quick post" message window on chordie, use the "reply" button. That will allow you to preview the post prior to submitting.
