Topic: Leif Vollebekk - Don't go to Klaksvik

If someone could work out the chords for this song I would be very grateful. I've googled it to death and can't find it anywhere (which probably means the next reply will be a google link). I'm not great at working chords out by ear and I cant even tell if this songs in an alternate tuning to standard.

Anyway heres a link to the album version on youtube : http://www.youtube.c...h?v=OgyYb8O1P84

and this is the best video i can find of him playing it live : http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Album version would be preferred but for all I can tell they're the same.

Cheers,

Re: Leif Vollebekk - Don't go to Klaksvik

Yeah, links don't work but I managed to fix the first one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgyYb8O1P84

Stays on a C until 0:30
D minor, F major 7

C again. B diminished 7th at 0:41
F, Bdim7, C

This song is pretty much strophic so this idea is repeated for all the verses (I think) including the harmonica breaks. There's a lot of hanging around on the C major chord! It's most likely in an alternate tuning. I think he has the thick E string tuned down to a C, but not that's not a necessity.

I enjoyed this song. Hope you pick it up.

Re: Leif Vollebekk - Don't go to Klaksvik

Thank you very much for your reply mate.

I thought it was a different tuning can't work it out though (taught myself guitar, no musical talent).

The chords you've suggested sound good so thanks very much, if you actually work out the tuning please let me know please.

I'm glad you enjoyed the song, I bloody love this guy and thouroughly suggest his album.

Re: Leif Vollebekk - Don't go to Klaksvik

I'll check the album out. It's hard to hear what the tuning is as the guitar really isn't in the foreground. Standard will work though.

By the way, I think the B diminished 7th sounds good played like this:
E A D G B e
x 2 3  2 3 x

You could barre that, but I prefer to use all four fingers, one for each note.

Hope you stick around Chordie, it seems nice here.
