I see names that are banned all the time.The last one about data entry in bangladesh.How does one get banned or is there a certain message that gives them such a dubious honor.I see it talking about medicines or something completely irrelevant to anything.How does this happen or is it just junk.thanks  joe

usually a member earns a ban by posting unauthorized links to products or services (spam) or porn but he or she can also be banned for content of posts cussing,insulting etc. sometimes a warning is issued privately if it is not to severe and repeated.

JJJ,most the time it is spamming,so if you see an add or something that looks like a link to sales or porn report it. Got too keep the bad guys out!!

That's right!  Spammers are bad!  You'll also notice that once you see the ban, within a short period of time the post will just "disappear"!  That's us mods working in the background deleting the junk so that you don't accidentally click on any of their crud. 

If you see such a link in a post, look under the user name to see if they've been banned.  If not, on the far right of the post you will see a blue "Report".  You can click on that and then type in something about it like "spammer!  links in post.  bad guy.  delete.  save us mods!"  LOL... or whatever tickles your fancy, and then submit.  The mods will then get the report and can ban and delete or take whatever appropriate action is necessary. 

Thanks chordie members for helping us out by reporting these.  We don't see them all, and many of you are there helping us catch em.  It's like sending in a tip to a police hotline, only we actually listen... and don't even get paid or eat doughnuts every day!  LOL!

Speak for yourself on the donuts. 

I don't think we've banned a member for content other than spamming for a long time.  The real pickers who come here to hang out are all pretty straightforward.  I don't kid myself of what language might be like around a campfire, but it seems like everyone has "read the room" and figured out what it takes to get along on-line. 

I'd also like to point out that if someone who is a regular contributor accidentally puts in an inappropriate link, we're most likely going to edit out the link and send a note to the member explaining our action.  We don't have to, but it's been our habit to extend that courtesy of explanation to those who participate and follow the rules the rest of the time.
