Two weeks ago, two of my students Tatiana (just turned 12) and Raquel (aged 11) asked me to teach them Elvis's "Can't Help Falling In Love". As they need it in C to suit their voices the chorus starts with two beats of Em, one beat of F#m and one beat of B. They had to learn the dreaded 'B' and this is the result:

That's how I play the B and Bb. Hooray. Sounds good to me.
These girls have been playing for a year and only had 2 weeks on the B. Perhaps I will start them on the full barred B next week and turn them into mutants

I did notice that there fingernails are a little long keeping them clipped short increases accuracy especially on there fretting hand at least for me it dose.
I wish I could have learned at that age, maybe it wouldn't be so difficult now. Mind you, alhtough I am an official mutant and would normally barre a B chord, I think the open chord sounds better on some songs, especially on an acoustic. I find the same thing with F too. I wouldn't dream of using a barred F in The Drugs Don't Work by The Verve, it just doesn't sound right to me. Also, as you are only playing the strings you are fingering, you can slide these chords up the neck too just like a barre. Makes F to G really easy.
