Topic: Thanks for a great site!

<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy"> Hi! This is an absolutely fantastic web site. The way that it's so easy to print out lyrics together with chords and the chord charts is a great feature. I play ukulele (c-tuning)and starting to play the guitar. For both Chordie has been a great help. Without you I would have been struggling even more to get the finger positions right.

Re: Thanks for a great site!

I agree.  This is hands-down the best guitar site on the web.
<p>
I love the transpose feature, chord charts, songbook, minimal advertising, song/artist indexes...
<p>
Features I would like to see in the future:
<ul>
<li> personal annotations in the songbook.  i.e. I can add notes for myself for any song in my songbook.  Even better would be to make custom versions of the crd files (I often end up correcting/improving the crd/tab), but even just basic personal note annotations would be nice.
<p>
<li> some kind of a folder system for the songbook
<p>
<li> being able to rank different versions of the crd/tabs, so that the generally accepted "best" tabs come up at the top of the results.
<p>
<li> a page that shows new versions/songs submitted with paramaterizable query fields (i.e. how far back, artist name, genre, submitter name, etc.)
<p>
</ul>
Great site--keep up the good work!

Re: Thanks for a great site!

Editing/annotating the songs in the songbook could be very nice. I will look into that. I've made a few changes to the songbook system lately. And this might actually noe be very hard to do.

I will also look into the ranking. I might even use parameters like how often the song is added to the songbook etc. It is not trivial to do this,but it might be possible. Don't hold your breath though...<img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif" border=0 alt="Wink">

I did not understand the folder system. Please explain.

Unfortunately your last suggestion is very difficult to do. The reason is that Chordie is basically a search engine.

Re: Thanks for a great site!

See separate post about the new feature that is letting you edit the songs in your songbook.

Re: Thanks for a great site!

Folders would essentially be hierarchical songbooks.

<p>

i.e. it would be nice to be able to nest songbooks within songbooks and be able to easily move or copy songs between them.   Also, to add metadata about the songbook (e.g. a description about the songs in the book, tags a'la flickr, etc.)

Re: Thanks for a great site!

I have used this site a lot, and never contributed in any way.

So i just want to say thank you wery mutch! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

This site has done more to advance my guitar education that any other factor. Far and above it has proven to be a strategic asset for my learning experience.

Also I know how much work it takes to keep a site like this going. I want to let the webmaster know that his efforts       shall not go unrewarded. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_cool.gif" border=0 alt="Cool">

Thank you,
