It would be better to buy a few dozen and have someone on this side of the pond mail them. I get Xavier strings in any gauge and they are sold by Guitarfettish.com at 32 American dollars a dozen(with Tax) and there every bit as good or better then Elixir (I have used these on both electric and acoustic guitars) your strings are your sound! I would pay more to get a good sound but that's me. To answer your question no I have not tried the cheap Chinese strings but I am American and I try to avoid supporting China or any other country when possible.

lately i've been buying from mine from amazon, not elixir. i only bought them once a while ago, but didnt buy them again, must say something? before you go paying 15 quid a set, check out amazon, i'm not spamming there just good prices. or try stringsdirect . com ernie balls for a fiver! come on friend, you're not trying.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Like Russell, I'm also a strong believer in supporting local / domestic businesses. I get my Elixir's at a local, independently-owned music store for about $15 CDN per set. Since I can usually get 3 months out of a set, $5 per month is pretty cheap for strings. I waste a lot more than that on Tim Horton's coffee!
