HOMEPORT
FEBRUARY 2, 2019
Scott Sailer

I lost love and drowned her emotion
No matter what I tried, No matter that  I cried,
I cannot repeat the magic of our first potion,
Filled with shame and regret I lost  my pride.

Sailing this world in a turbulent sea,
No longer a rhyme no longer a reason,
Love and honor masked with treason,
We rode the tides, through the ups and downs
Over the horizon we can never see.

The wind has died and the seas went flat
I can’t see anything clear,
The fog rolls in and I become damp with fear,
Homeport has disappeared.

Mist parts and moonlight shines down
Creating a new path fore to see,
Knowing not where it is to go,
The sails become full, life again I will lead

Sailing this world in a turbulent sea,
No longer a rhyme no longer a reason,
Love and honor masked with treason,
Now with a path, I see a hand reach from thee.

Together they meet from distant past,
Two ships lost at sea,
To each, a rope is cast.
A homeport awaits for them to see.

Re: HOMEPORT

beamer the poem is great and good to read. You did  amazing writing with this one.

Music is what feelings sound like.
Music is life, that why our hearts have beats.

Scott

Great words man.... lots of really cool stuff in this one.
Is there a reason why the second stanza has 5 lines and the other only four - I was thinking if this was a song maybe it was the chorus ???

Raw emotion captured !
well done

Re: HOMEPORT

I love the way you use the sea to paint the emotions and tell the story of a love lost.

Re: HOMEPORT

This is as good as any "ocean-based" analogy I've read ... well done, and very graphic. My late father-in-law was a British merchant seaman during WWII, and he would have loved this.

Re: HOMEPORT

Guys, thank you very much for the high praise.  and yes this will be a song soon.  Jeff and I are working on this also.  He sent me one arrangement that I still need to work with and see what we may still yet do.  once done, ill post it in songs.

My buddy, who will be the one singing,  was like Where is the hope?  I had no clue where it would come from, but I had a nice moment happen and it worked this song well.

Re: HOMEPORT

Hey Scott - I'm glad to get the music side started. I'm looking forward to see where HOMEPORT ends up.
