Topic: Innocent Hearts

A song about how treacherous love can be....
probably needs a lot of musical tweeking - I'll work at it.
Just thought I'd throw it out there.

Innocent Hearts By  jim  Kenyon

Verse 1

[Em] My mind and my [G]heart are at [C]war a[G]gain

Seems that [Em]lately they [G]can’t quite [C]get a[G]long

yea my [Em]mind says I’m [G]heading in the [C]right di[G]rection

While my [Em] heart says I [G]need to [C]go back [D]home

I’ve placed [Em] too much [G]burden on this [C]restless [G]heart

and now it [Em] waits and [G] waits for a [C]saving [G]grace

you'd think by[Em] now I'd be [G]way a [C]head of the [G]game

but it [Em] feels like I’m [G]still in the [C] same old [D]place

.

Chorus

.

ooh, so [C]many doors to open and there's [G]some to close

which are [C]the right ones, I don’t think [G]anyone knows

that’s the [C] mystery oflove, just like an [G]overture starts

always [D] building new dreams in those [C]innocent [G]hearts

.

Verse 2

.

Love can [Em]make you feel [G]great, it can [C] drive you [G]mad

hard to [Em] tell the real [G]thing from some [C]crazy [G] crush

got no [Em] rhyme nor [G] reason, just leaves you[C] falling [G]free

it’s like [Em] painting a [G]masterpiece with [C]out a [D] brush

Love asks [Em]to give up your [G]heart and [C]bare your [G]soul

And it [Em]promises to [G]kiss all your [C]tears good[G]bye

it can [Em]take away your [G]pain, and bring you [C] tomorrow's [G] light

And then [Em]take you by the [G]hand and show you [C]how to[D] fly

.

Chorus

.ooh, so [C]many doors to open and there's [G]some to close

which are [C]the right ones, Idon’t think [G]anyoneknows

that’s the [C] mystery oflove, just like an [G]overture starts

it’s always [D] building new dreams in those [C]innocent [G]hearts

[D] building new dreams in those [C]innocent [G]hearts

[D] building new dreams in those [C]innocent [G]hearts

Yea love is [D] building new dreams in those [C]innocent [G]hearts

Re: Innocent Hearts

Nice Song... I have enjoyed a lot.. such a nice lyrics

Re: Innocent Hearts

Hi Jim. Another masterpiece my friend. Reads really nice, the words flow like a river gently babbling to a bigger river? I think this will grow to become that river.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Innocent Hearts

Very good, TIG ... all of your songs have a natural "unforced" feel to them, which allows the message to shine through without distraction. A lot of my own poetry (to me, anyway)  seems to read as if it's being forced to make the metre / rhyme work properly. You've certainly got an admirable knack for this ... thanks!

Re: Innocent Hearts

Jim you just got this natural flair for making good songs with lyrics that flow. Thank you for sharing with us.

Re: Innocent Hearts

Thank you everyone for the kind words.
I'm trying to get the playing part down. smile

Thanks again all !

Re: Innocent Hearts

Enjoyed that Jim. Very introspective and yet something I think everyone can relate to: indecision, conflicting emotions, and figuring out what to do in all these difficult situations that come at us in life.

Re: Innocent Hearts

Thanks Jeff for the kindness.

I have re-written some of the lyric and tried to make the phrasing fit better to the chord sequence.
That's the real hard part for me in writing b/c I haven't got a musical base to work from.
If I could actually sing and play it would help !
I'm going to try to  record it today - we'll see how it goes.
Thanks again
