Topic: The Pub Band

The Pub Band
i`ve been drinking
and singing along
to my local band
singing my favourite songs
with a pint in my hand
i raise my glass
to the boys giving it their all
i guess it`s not easy
playing to a half empty pub
most of the punters
only came for the grub
but don`t worry guys
you`ve got at least one fan
I`ll  be back next week
and we`ll do it all again

Re: The Pub Band

EB good one when playing in a pub band if the audiences participates it makes it  all worth while.     Audience reaction for a classical person is great also. I will attach a clip of a concert where the piano had a problem. The pianist still managed to make it entertaining whicht got the  audience behind her and  helped save the day.

Been in that band many times  the poem tells a true tale .

Re: The Pub Band

Graham is so right as is the poem. It can be soul destroying playing to punters that just sit and talk loudly while your playing your heart out, giving it large and they don't even clap! I've just got to the point where I switch off and please myself. Usually at the end of the night the landlord comes up with a big smile and says "they loved you, when can you comeback?" What???
Any road up, great observation and writing. True life is a totally confusing thing.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

OK boys - what the heck is a "punter" ?

Over here across the pond he kicks the ball on 4th down in football !  smile

We used to have this guy in our town that no matter what band was playing, he would position himself right in front of the lead singer and just stand there all night long and stare at them. It was creepy - everyone called him "Froggy" for some unknown reason"

Good stuff on the lyric EB !!

Re: The Pub Band

the punters are the audience or people that "pay" for a show, or maybe don't pay to see the show? i used to be in a band that called them "jack'n'apes" a name i wasn't comfy with, but there you go...

Re: The Pub Band

I admire you guys who get up there and do it live.
it pisses me off the lack of respect for the working musician
