Topic: Playing Townes Gets Me Down

Just something I notices about myself this morning that got me wondering. I might make it into a song but for now a poem it is.

Playing Townes Gets Me Down

Playing Townes Gets Me Down
But I still play his songs
Something about them tugs my heartstrings
Leaves me feeling twice as strong

This old world makes me weary
All the stuff going on
So I escape some to his music
And suddenly weariness is gone

Now I know his voice is not for everyone
For some I know it might have too much twang
But he just talks to me through the words that he wrote
That’s why I go back again and again

He wrote about love and life
And all the in-between
Things I think on, but his guitar
Drives his words home or so it seems

So playing Towens may get me down
But it helps me ease my pain
Not quite as much as he went through
But I kind of understand just the same

Hi Jeff. Nice poem/song. We all have our muse I guess and his music has certainly got your juices flowing. Let us know if and when you put music to it and record it.
