Topic: The Heartbeat Of Art

The Heartbeat of Art
In colours bold, the brush does dance
On canvas stretched, a grand romance
Each stroke unveils a silent plea of what could be
A whisper of humanity

The notes that flow, like rivers stream
Reshape our thoughts, ignite a dream
Within the rhythm, souls entwine
A sacred space where hearts align

Yet shadows loom where egos play
A battle between night and day
Do we create for self alone?
Or help each other find a home?

As actors shed their skin in light
Through sculpted forms and fragile might
In every art a chance to grow
To lift the veil and let love flow

For in these crafts of depth and grace
We weave community in this place
It's more than praise or fleeting cheer
Art's heartbeat echoes "I am here."

Re: The Heartbeat Of Art

That's really beautiful Pedr. It flows sweetly like the river as you mention in your poem. "Yet shadows loom where egos play" how did you come up with such a simple yet telling line? It tells how this world can be cruel yet beautiful, bitter and sweet. You are so deserving of your title Loremaster, I bow to your brilliance.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: The Heartbeat Of Art

Pete,
Ditto what Phill said.

I had a very dear friend who was a world famous abtract artist. The first day I was in her studio I thought to myself, these painting look like when I just cleaned my paint brush.
Then as I became really good friends with her, she helped me understand abstract art. Her name is Louise Fishman.  She called to wish me a happy birthday , and the next day on my birthday she died. (5 years ago) . She was such a kind and caring woman. When I read your poem it caused vibrations in my mind -  i could see louise painting and I could see her paintings.  She gifted me two originals and also gifted one to my daughter.   If you remember,  I wrote about her  this is a link to the video I made.

These are a couple of   links about her  if you want to peek

and from the NY Times

your poem , to me, describes Louise and her works, precisely !!   thank you for that. ( I will read this again in two days - my birthday )

Thank you Pete for sharing this wonderful piece of literature. It is priceless !

Cheers, Jim

Re: The Heartbeat Of Art

Piri, I had the first two verses of this poem figured out weeks ago then I hit a brick wall as I felt like the poem needed more words.
Wednesday night I caught a cab and the driver like many cab drivers had the answers to all the things wrong in the world. He said to me the leaders of all the world superpowers are all conmen with big egos that cast shadows over all that is true. Sitting at home later I looked at my poem after thinking about the word ego the lines came to me, "Yet shadows  loom where egos play a battle between night and day".
Jim, reading the links you put up about Louise Fishman made me realize she had an interesting link to her Jewish side using her aesthetic to educate using ashes from the holocaust to bring home how shocking it was.  When it comes to pure abstract paintings, I find it hard to make sense of what I see on the canvas. Happy Birthday for your upcoming birthday.
