Topic: Wanting to play key of C with Capo.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if I can put the capo on any other fret other than the 5th to play key of C. I have trouble with F chord  and miss out on alot of songs. I have trouble with the B7 chord also so if we could bypass the key of E to transpose, that would be appreciated. I just want to be able to play until I can get the first positions of B7 and F down. Thank you in advance.

Re: Wanting to play key of C with Capo.

Capo 3rd fret play open "A" chord for a "C" voicing.

Key of "C" I - IV - V progression. C-----F-----G

Capo 3rd fret and play:

A = C

D = F

E = G

Hope this helps.

A Chord Shape . progession in G as G C D  would be in  the key of C at the fifth fret.   In A would be A D E  Capoed at the 3rd would be in the Key of C       No capo of course  C F G would be the key of C . D shape progession would be D A G  at the 10th fret to be in the Key of C.  Do a search for capo conversion chart and I think you'll find it handy and soon you'll no longer need to use a chart.

Good luck., Wayne

Is F#m the right chord to play as a relative minor in lieu of Am when playing C with a capo at 3?
