Topic: a BIG problem

I have been using chordie for about six months now, and many times I have looked for songs that had LOTS of different interpretations. The problem is that when I look for songs, I have to look through almost all of them to find a COMPLETE one, because they are not usually marked wether they are the intros, the solos, or the complete song. I think (and this is just me, so you don't have to agree) that ALL songs should be marked so we can tell what part of the song they are, and thus find the parts of the songs we are looking for more quickly and efficiently. For example, it could be like this:


   Night Drive (the All-American Rejects)

             Intro


                OR

   Night Drive (the All-American Rejects)

             Verse & Chorus


A little feedback on this idea would be nice.

yeah, it would be nice wouldnt it, but  idont know if this would be possible since chordie is a search engine for songs from other sites. You might have to go to all the other sites and tell them  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_rolleyes.gif" border=0 alt="Rolling Eyes">


I find most songs I look at have got the complete song. I look for songs with the lyrics and chords, are you looking mostly for tabs? I find songs with tabs are not full songs.


but maybe something could be added? it would be good to see. Maybe a wee box to click on a choice like you said " lyrics and chords" tabs only" lyrics and tabs" song not complete" etc.

I agree with you both. This is definitely a problem.


However, Chordie is an "automated process". There are 1 million songs indexed, and I simply do not have time to edit songs manually.


My attempt at solving this is "rating". But I need to build up the rating database before it has any real effect.


Please contribute by always rating the songs you are viewing.


The following things will happen very soon:

* All results will be sorted by rating.

* In cases where a version get low score from multiple persons - AND the song exists in other (better) versions, the song will simply disappear from the Chordie index.


Another thing that is planned, but not implemented, is that edited versions will be shown instead of the original song. This means all editing will contribute to make Chordie better.

lets hope people use the rating system to help others get a better page, meaning people should have better songbooks.

Actually, I in reply to upyerkilt (that name just kills me  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing"> ) I look for an equal amount of tabs AND chords, I have noticed that songs with chords are usually complete songs, but the tabs are the main problem here.



And in reply to the administrator, I completely understand about not having enough time to go through each song, I was just expressing my personal opinion, I just wanted to see if other people had noticed this problem, and apparently some have.


I will try to see if I can use the rating system too, and see if that relieves the problem a little bit, 'cause every little bit helps.
