Topic: RAP AND RADIO STATIONS

Being a NON USA habitant I am not familiar with a lot of things, like "airplay" for "rap"

Is there a lot of airplay on the biggest radio stations?
Or is "rap air play" on special or specific radio stations?

Re: RAP AND RADIO STATIONS

Most Radio in the US is gere specific, and heavily programed.  Rap will be played only on stations that specialize in it.  Country will only be played on a country station, Hard Rock on a Rock station, etc.   There are Stations which specialize in top 40 hits,  but they usualy edit out Rap songs of questionable or profane content.

Re: RAP AND RADIO STATIONS

I thought so, but there is one real big station you can hear in a lot of States, something with KW in it and playing "mainstream rock" like Stones, Beatles, REM...

Re: RAP AND RADIO STATIONS

i wish the stations were specialised like that here in Australia.

If you don't live in the city here the only kind of radio stations you can get are the top40 kind that play rubbish and stuff from the 80's.

Although there is triple j which is rather good.

It's the same in the UK, even in the Cities.
Because the area I live in can't get DAB radio signals, I have to find the website for each station and listen to it on the internet...

Re: RAP AND RADIO STATIONS

Terestrial radio is mostly local stations,  the size of the signal is regulated by the Federal Government.  There are Companys that own a lot of stations,  Like ClearChanel,  which program nation wide,  but have some local content usualy weather and traffic.   Also there are a growing number of syndicated shows,  usually talk radio, but not always,  which are played on a number of stations through out the country.
