Re: NFL Fans
I'm going at on a limb today and picking a possible upset. I'm going with Missouri to beat Okalahoma.
Cam
Oh it's a nail biter!
21-20 4th quarter. That's two outstanding teams.

Yikes!
Sooners are coming apart...
While not nearly as far out on the limb as you (I'm making my prediction with about five minutes left in the game
) I'm thinking you're right.
Three straight weeks of #1 losing. Its the Ducks to lose at this point.
65 yard return. heh.
Make or break play right now.... 4th an 1, mizzou ball....
1st down. Game over, baring a fumble or some other miracle. Run run run run run...
Wow!
So, my bet is next weeks rankings are
1. Oregon
2. Auburn
3. Boise State
4. Michigan State
5. TCU
Auburn beating a good LSU team will jump them over Boise.
Oregon plays USC next week. The Trojans will be keyed up for that game. Could four #1s going down in a row happen? Why yes it could.
Jesus Tony, are you ever going to stop humping my leg? I forgotten more about football than you'll ever know, primarily because I watch the game.
Here's some more non-subjective facts about your over-rated Hokies. Of all the ranked teams with two losses, only two of those teams have losses to non-ranked teams. South Carolina lost to a pretty good Kentucky team and VA Tech lost to.... JAMES MADISON. A division II school with losses to such noted powerhouses as Delaware and New Hampshire.
The rest of the two loss teams lost to a combined schedule of Auburn, Alabama, Arizona, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Florida State, LSU, Michigan State, and Iowa. Every one a ranked team. Meanwhile, VA beat up on Duke this week, or as we like to call their football program, "St. Mary's School for Blind Orphan Girls."
Meanwhile, out here in the Pac-10, it looks like this:
#1 Oregon
#15 Arizona
#13 Stanford
Oregon State
#24 USC
California
Washington
Arizona State
UCLA
Washington State
So, lets just take out the four ranked teams in the conference, and I'll even go so far as to ignore the fact that Oregon State was ranked until two weeks ago, when Washington beat them. UCLA has wins over two ranked teams. Cal lost to UCLA by one point. Washington beat USC. Point being, 6 of 10 teams out here are capable of beating ranked opponents, because they've done it, and two others have come dang close.
Meanwhile, in the Almost Athletic Conference, VA Tech gets a pat on the head because they score 49 on East Carolina.
Dang Jerome, why you gotta pick on my BlueDevils, Yeah I know we stink at football but wait to Basketball season starts, not to changethis thread from football to basketball. However I still think that if Alabama can claw their way back in it, they will be your National Champions. I still think they are the best team from top to bottom in the country.

Ok, I'm a 54 year old playing against a 27 year old, I'm in the green shirt, my Son at Quaterback, his friend defending me, I go deep, the ball bouncing off the defenders hand, I keep my concentration and bring the ball in for a touchdown. I'm signing with my 49ers this week.
Great Catch Cam! - The '9ers could use you - It seems these guys just have a knack for finding ways to lose.
That hurts topdown, seems like the niners keep shooting themselfs, they had 11 or 12 penelities in the game today.

don't get me wrong dino - I was pulling for them. I agree with you the niners are much better than their results, ouch
geoaguiar wrote:Tony Romo is a mediocre quarterback. I don't hate him but he is not good. He doesn't understand the game the way the great ones do. He's got about 2 more years before they give up on him. He just doesn't have it. I've watched him play...he's just middle of the pack.
You can blame Wade Phillips or even Jason Garrett (and Jones will shit can both of them) but no amount of coaching will make Tony Romo a good quarterback...sorry he just doesn't have it.That team is dripping with talent and their goal is to be 8 and 8....they are a giant dissappointment.
Romo sucks - I agree - Let's compare QB rankings / ratings since Romo's first starting year to the haloed one:
Year Romo Brady
'06 5th / 95.1 9th / 87.9
'07 5th / 97.4 1st / 117.2
'08 8th / 91.4 injured
'09 8th / 97.6 9th / 96.2Now - I'm a big believer that a great QB is judged by his rings, not his ratings (see Marino, Tarkenton, etc.), but come on, Romo is above mediocre. Granted, he is no Brady (yet), but Brady is special - not many like him in the NFL.
Stats are no way to compare.....As I type Phillip Rivers leads the league in passing yards and they're in last place. I've watched him play and he doesn't see the filed like the great ones. He's not even a top 10 QB. All these guys have raw talent and anyone of them can win teh Super Bowl because it's a team game. Trent Dilfer won one with the Ravens.
Tony Romo is not a top 10 QB... He's not as good as:
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Phillip Rivers
Ben Roethlisberger
Aaron Rogers
Joe Flacco
Matt Schaub
Matt Ryan
Carson Palmer
and the list goes on.....Romo is middle of the pack and NOT showing any signs of improving
Go on Tops and love your Cowboys....just know that Romo will never get 'em back to the Bowl!!!!
Like I said, I measure a QB success by his rings - from the list you provided, I see Manning, Brady, Ben, Brees as better than Romo - The rest can all be lumped together until they bring home the Lombardi. Flacco? Schaub? Ryan? C'mon man - These guys have alot to prove before they can carry Romo's pads.
Great game tonight between Green Bay and Minnesota but Green Bay comes out on top as it goes down to the last play to decide it.
Cam
yea cam that was a real nail biter I am from Green Bay and I had mixed feelings Brett Favre did some great things including winning a Superbowl for the pack but I disagree with the fans booing him I still am a Favre fan but a Packer fan first what a game!!

Yeah Russell it was a great game, I was pulling for Green Bay. I've lost my respect for farve over the last few seasons though I know what he's accompolished, he's been a great player, and I'm sure when the time comes the fans there in Green Bay will welcome him as a Hall Of Famer when he goes in.
Cam
The sad thing is, the Vikings are one of the few teams to have been to the Super Bowl several times and never won. I want them to win one, just like I'd love Buffalo or Cleveland to taste what it's like to have a championship. Green Bay has been there. Favre and his "act" over the last few seasons has worn thin, well, non existent in credibility any more. Of course the Vikings have enabled this "act" to continue. And now it's catching up to him and them. Green Bay did the right thing by not playing the game anymore. They are up and coming, all they need now is a good offensive line to protect Rogers.
Favre will be a first ballot HOF'r, but, his legacy is ending on a very sad note. It's time for him to go and at least have the class and dignity to leave while he still can walk.
they could also use a few defensive players like Clay Matthews there defensive line is to small and slow no pass rush when Matthews had to sit out I think the offensive line could use some improvement but overall Rogers has to make the right decisions
all they need now is a good offensive line to protect Rogers.

Ha!!!!! I knew you'd dislike that list I almost threw Matt Cassel on there too! You're right; they all have a lot to prove including your Romo. The thing about Romo is he has a fantastic cast around him and still fails to get it done...you can only blame coaching so many times....
BTW......Romo has the most to prove out of all of he above. Great defence, good running game and offensive line (not as much this year),...and still NOT getting it done....
I don't hate him but he does stink ![]()
Matt Cassel proved himself with the right coach and the right coaching. He's the only player in Patriot history to have 2 consecutive games with over 400 yards of passing. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, while he can throw the ball, he needs a bit more seasoning and more time to prove himself. Of course everything depends upon having the right people around him and how he evolves as a team leader.
take that bet, lets see who wins, haven't seen a lot of US college football just hi-lites on TSN, we tend to get CFL or NFL games here in atlantic canada, ,,, take the bet, up the prize to something to do with music, just a thought,
badeye ![]()
Well the Cowboys go down again sorry Tops, but it looks like a long road now especially with Romo out. I guess you and I "my 49ers" can sit this season out maybe we can be spoilers this year. It was a good game anyway though.
Cam
Looks like the cowboys are not going to do too much this year, romo will have plenty of time to play with his girfriends. I still have some hope for my forty niners, they do have the talent ,but they keep making the dumb rookie mistakes. I will remain a faithfull fan.
