Topic: open d tuning

i am tuning my 6 string DADF#AD for open d tuning. i have just ordered a tenor and would like to play open d. it seems that would be DF#AD yet somewhere on chordie someone said he was building a tenor and was going to tune it DAF#D. any thoughts from music theory people??

thanks,jv

Re: open d tuning

They'll both give you open D, but the chord is found in different parts.  As long as DF#A is in there, you're good.

Tune it both and use the one that sounds best to your ear.

Someday we'll win this thing...
