Topic: New extremely new - can you suggest songs

I'm teaching myself, I had 3-4 lessons.

I know it's time in and reading chorde charts.

But I really need help finding some basic easy songs to start with.

I'm open to anything, old rock, country, I have worked on: take it easy, leaving on a jet plane..

Thanks

Thank you very much

These threads are a gold mine!

Re: New extremely new - can you suggest songs

You are very welcome!  When I joined Chordie as a newbie I was very lost as well.  Although I probably said it somewhere in one of those posts, I started with "leaving on a jet plane" and "Tom Dooley".  Again, although it's probably in one of those threads...  the first few songs I learned are here:  http://www.chordie.com/songbook.php?sel … did=269030  --- but I don't think the songbook saved them as transposed to the easier chords that I used.  Have you found out how to use the transpose feature here on Chordie yet?

Let us know if you need any help.  We've all been a beginner at some point or another, and this is a site with many very helpful members that generally don't judge but just help.  WELCOME TO CHORDIE!!  smile  Good luck!

I reckon 'Who'll Stop the Rain' by Creedence is pretty easy to pick up and the tune is probably really familiar to you, which I reckon helps. Mind you, I started learning with 'Greensleeves'....!!!! (Actually, that sounds pretty good if you rock it out with a mad/loud 'Tudor' strum smile

Re: New extremely new - can you suggest songs

captian.rebeccalee, welcome to chordie. With your permission I will e-mail you the lyrics to CCR's "Who'll Stop The Rain" with chords. The chords will be written above the words were the chord changes occur. The song has a strum pattern of 1 - 2 - & - 3 - & - 4 -& 1.

1= downstrum
& = upstrum.

If you read the lyrics and count the strums (beats) as you listen to the song you will better understand where it shows you to change chords.
This is a easy song to play. The key is in G which is the same as CCR's recording.
