Topic: That Unpleasant Thing

When does life gain worth
Is it after-birth
Or is it just a choice
If wanted and it dies
Then the mother cries
But if unwanted here
We won't shed a tear
We'll just look away
From that unpleasant thing

Re: That Unpleasant Thing

Very thought provoking poem Knox87.
I don't think I have ever read a poem that ( I think ) alludes to abortion.
Being a man I will never have that feeling of a life growing inside my body and the terrible circumstances that force mothers to abort their babies.

hi knox87 and welcome to chordie poems.

i must say a very deep and thought provoking poem, and jamiers reply is just as deep.

well done to you both

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Just my interpretation Phill, I may be completely wrong.

Re: That Unpleasant Thing

hi jamier, i wasnt knocking your reply i was just commenting on how good and deep it was. it's up to knox 87 to say if your near to the mark or not, having read it again it could allude to abortion, miscarriage or even adoption. well mr knox, are you going to enlighten us?

Re: That Unpleasant Thing

i suppose it really alludes to both miscarriage and abortion.

"if wanted and it dies" = miscarriage

"but if unwanted here" = abortion

& thanks for the positive feedback.. i was thinking about posting this on a forum i post to regularly.. but since abortion is such a touchy issue.... i was kinda hesitant to do so as i didn't want to offend anyone i actually know... hehe
