Topic: south west philly pride

I remember like it was yesterday
heading down to Finnegans pool
me and all my friends from around the way
man we broke all the rules
the tragedy in 1984
the day that Barneys flagpole fell
we made it through that day and many more
our hearts cried as we said farewell

SouthWestPhilly pride
comes from deep inside
man it's something I can't explain
a small community
more like a family
will we ever go home again

All the nights spent at St. Mary's dance
water ice behind the park
head up to the ave to ;shop for clothes
drinking beer down Penrose park
the truck that came around giving rollercoaster rides
wishing those days would never end
new years day on Broad st. is where you can find
200 mummers from Finnegans

SouthWestPhilly pride
comes from deep inside
man it's something I can't explain
a small community
more like a family
will we ever go home again

Pizza Villa on a summer night
then take a cruise out on the streets
head down to Craze make sure you're looking right
Pretzel park is where we'll meet
Eddie's cafe to go and watch the game
crazy Annie at J&N's
where I live now it just don't feel the same
I miss my home I mis my firends

SouthWestPhilly pride
comes from deep inside
man it's something I can't explain
a small community
more like a family
will we ever go home again

you guys won't understand most of this but it's about where I grew up,it's now a war zone and we have all moved away

Whether we understand or not doesn't matter. That's a lovely poem, thanks for letting us read it. Do you put your poems to music?
