Re: gimme a challenge!!

maybe it is then time for you to look out for different styles? YOu could check out some surf stuff. A few Dick Dale pieces like the infamous miserlou come to my mind ... very fast melodies with a lot of blacknote and reverb effects.

a brutal way to learn rythm guitar is the classic Johnny Cash stuff, like it's heard on "live at San Quentin". My respect goes to anybody who can hold this "boom cicka boom" steady at 180 bpm for three minutes

just my 2 cents, maybe not your kind of music

Mason William's "Classical Gas"

You will need ten fingers

Hammer-on's

Pull-off's

Classical picking

Strumming

You will need chords all up and down the neck. This song is an instrumental...it was recorded some 40 years ago. THOUSANDS of guitarists for all walks and disciplines have tried it and failed William’s website claims 100 have covered it, but I think he is being modest. It’s a ROYAL b*tch but once you got it is the balls. I have always wanted to play the tune with an R-n-R back beat but after 30 years of trying…..well….

It’s still available to buy and I imagine, download, so, good luck

Re: gimme a challenge!!

heya dEb!! you jus need 2 remember that the highest line in the TAB is the highest sounding string!! and that the lowest line is the lowest sounding srtring!!! then u jus gotta think that the numbers are the number fret and then practice!! soon you will b able 2 get any song from chordie and work it out if you have the sound 2 listen to!!! its hard 2 begin with so dont b put off!!! jus practice and practice!!!!

hows that 4 u??? need any more tips on it??? jus ask!!!

Re: gimme a challenge!!

of course theres the regular hard songs, Master of Puppets and Eruption

but look into maybe Layla(dont cheat like clapton and play the slide yourself)

Hotel California

Johnny B. Goode

try some fingerpicking like JamesTaylor: Carolina in My Mind, Fire and Rain, and Youve got a Friend

Re: gimme a challenge!!

Heres a challenge:

Dream Theater - Sream Of Counsciousness... No way man! hehe

Ok.. Heres a challenge at your level:

Metallica - The Unforgiven II. Its harder than you think.

Re: gimme a challenge!!

Challenging music...hmm

In the name of god by dream theater

Glasgow kiss by john petrucci

fatal tragedy by dream theater

King of the monsters by racer X

Baroque and roll by Yngwie malmsteen

and finally speed kills by micheal angelo biato

these songs, artists and bands are very progressive music with very individual styles and techniques

last thing

good luck

I need a new one to play alongside key of G or G#

If you could do this, it would really help me. Plus it should keep you busy.

Re: gimme a challenge!!

dee by randy rhoads,i'll challenge ya!

Re: gimme a challenge!!

Anything by Django Reinhardt. I've been playing guitar a long time, dabbled in numerous style techniques but the stuff I'm attempting to learn by DR is as musically enlightening as anything I've learned. His music will challenge almost every musician.

Give everything but up.
