Topic: Using CHORDIE to make a Uke Chord Songbook

This Chordie site is a real nice find. I am working my way up to one year of ukulele strumming and one of mail e-mail uke-friends told me about the site. I have put about 25 songs into a songbook accidently with guitar chords on the side. How can I swiftly change these to permanent uke chords so the print out for GCEA ukuleles.

Hello jnoteast - and welcome to chordie!  The instrument settings are chosen when you first register.  Go to the 'Resources' tab on the chordie front page and down toward the bottom of the list is a button . . .

Re: Using CHORDIE to make a Uke Chord Songbook

I've got a Chordie book of 30 songs, and have been going to each song and changing the chords from guitar to uke each time. The suggestion saves me time and gives me more time for playing.

Re: Using CHORDIE to make a Uke Chord Songbook

Does someone have a method to get neat and efficient print-outs for uke-chorded songs from chordie. It did'nt work well for me and trying to cut and paste was also difficult.

The instrument selection is a setting to every songbook. Change the instrument in the dropdown boxes below the songs.

To make it possible to convert an entire songbook to another instrument it is independent from the instrument selection of the individual song.

Okay, One problem solved. I tried plotting it on my laser printer and the font size was about a 2 where 8 is small already. Got 15 pages of really small stuff. How do I get a readable font size?

Also some songs have gibberish from the author or guitar licks that don't make sense to me. How do you get rid of that stuff?

James, I've been trying with little success either to read the rest of your message (the initial view ends with button and I can't find a way to view the rest), or to get back to where I originally registered.  I go to a page for resetting the password, but there is no place I see for stating the instrument of choice.  I'm new to the duke and to the forum, so I hohpe you will be patient and are willing to help.  Griffrank

Re: Using CHORDIE to make a Uke Chord Songbook

Greetings Griffrank - Here is how to change your settings to uke (or other intruments):

On chordie's front page there is a tab towards the top that says 'Resources'.  Click that tab.

On the Resources page, at the bottom of the list is a button labelled 'Change Settings' (or something like that).

Hit that button and you will see a little pulldown menu where you can make your instrumental selection.  Then, click OK.

Hope this helps - let me know how it goes.

Re: Using CHORDIE to make a Uke Chord Songbook

Hello jnoteast - If your stuff is printing strange, you may have bad or corrupted chordpro coding in a song.  Open each song in your songbook using the edit button at the end of the song's listing.  Look for things like this:

{c:a comment with no closing bracket

{sot} at start of text command with no {eot} end of text command

Other gremlins can cause problems - I don't them all, but if you post a link to your songbook or a song, I will take a look at it.  James
