Checking out Yahoo news and came across this http://finance.yahoo.com/news/obama-wan … 00840.html Really gives you pause to consider what else is costing more to make than what it is actually worth. Maybe we should go back to shells and beads.
I heard somewhere it costs more too make one then it's face value,but when you go too gamble at the slot machines they last along time if you are trying too kill some time. I won a $35.00 jackpot with about two dollars worth of pennies.
I've said for years they should do away with pennies altogether. They are literally useless.
Perhaps doing away with all currency would not be a bad thing,everything could be handled on a credit system we do most of our transactions this way now it would be hard on the drug cartels as all transactions would have to be accounted for thru a central bank just a thought

Although I am mired deep in the digital world I prefer not to have all my money in an electronic "Vault". Too easy to track and too easy to lose. Makes it hard to disappear of you are constantly having to use your credit card to make purchases.
I seldom use cash except when wheeling and dealing on a guitar. Pennies, nickels, dimes are a nuisance. The end up collecting in my car somehow. I play a game of trying to get rid of them when I go through a drive-thru restaurant. It the bill is $3.69, the 69 is made up of small change if possible.
I'm afraid small change will follow the Postal System to its demise. Times have changed. How long until we have no metal box on a pole at the end of the drive way? I've had two encounters with teenagers recently where it was clear they had no understanding of how to mail something via the USPS. This made me realize another aspect of the generational gap.
I have always LOVED sending and receiving mail. As a kid I was always writing letters to friends, etc and sending away for stuff. Now, I am one of the few to still write a letter every now and then. I still love it.
I've bought a bass and three boats with small change. Save it up. It turns into real money in time.
What's a penny worth ? Go to Walmart and try to buy a $5.00 item and find out you only have $4.99. Bet they don't give it to you for $4.99. I almost never carry change. But I do have a change jar and have bought some nice toys with what I accumulated.

That is bad. I had no idea.
Yet another example of government spending that is not needed and shows little foresight. It's amazing how deeply Washington has buried this country. Whats up with that?
As they're so worthless if somebody could arrange for everybody in the US to send me just 1 each I'd be eternally grateful
