Re: Gotta build another guitar

I know the feeling I play my new Les Paul a lot I did 2 string changes on it in less then 3 weeks and all the material I have been "jamming" is recorded automatically on my Gibson memory cable and uploaded into two folders one for slide licks and the other for song ideas the folks at Gibson were right it is a great tool for composing and practice. smile

Re: Gotta build another guitar

Russell, Looks very cool, I bet it sounds just as good. Do you ever have to adjust the neck or intonation when you build these ? Been thinking about doing one but I'm hung up on the neck issues.

Looks great Russell. Looking forward to hearing some tunes from it.

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

Building it is the easy part the neck is critical it has to be aligned with the tremolo or your bridge to insure the strings line up on the neck and over the pickups, what I do is put the neck on and look down the center to see if it is straight then I lay the bridge on and string the low and high E's just tight enough to see that they align and have room to fret, once that is confirmed I mark the outside holes of the tremolo and drill a small starter hole if you don't have a drill a screw works too then I mount the bridge & springs. I always mount the pickups and lower them they can always be raised then the pickguard with all the electric components, It's a good idea before mounting the neck to mount the pickups and wiring, pots selector switch and thread the wires to the input jack and tremolo ground and make sure the neck is the same width as the pocket so it fits snug. then comes the fun part setting the intonation, spring pressure, string height and possibly a truss rod adjustment and plug in a chord to see if the pickups are working before mounting the pickguard with the pickups and wiring. lastly move the selector switch to the treble position and tap on the bridge pickup to see it you have a connection do the same with the other pickups in the center and neck positions if all of them work you good to go. smile

Thank you! I also like the lime green pickguard it is just a hint of color and sets off the body and hardware smile
