Topic: So Fearful

I made the mistake of watching the news this morning, and became paralyzed with grief. Writing this poem about it doesn't help at all, but it's better than nothing, I guess:

SO FEARFUL

CHORUS:    So sad and so tearful,
        So mad and yet fearful,
        My hands won't stop shaking,
        My heart won't stop quaking,
Despair gets the best of me … so fearful.

Hear how another child blows himself to bits,
See how apathy blindly turns and just sits,
Read how hatred abounds … gives me the fits,
Why are we helpless? Why can't it be fixed?

CHORUS:    So sad and so tearful,
        So mad and yet fearful,
        My hands won't stop shaking,
        My heart won't stop quaking,
Despair gets the best of me … so fearful.

Bring on the amusement! Bring on the clowns!
A delusion of joy may wipe off those frowns!
My head in the sand, repressing it down,
Hope lived here once, but became a ghost town.

CHORUS:    So sad and so tearful,
        So mad and yet fearful,
        My hands won't stop shaking,
        My heart won't stop quaking,
Despair gets the best of me … so fearful.

Our record speaks volumes, for this little planet,
If it can be destroyed, we manage to plan it,
At the base of it all, beyond all our need,
The one human constant: unquenchable greed.

CHORUS:    So sad and so tearful,
        So mad and yet fearful,
        My hands won't stop shaking,
        My heart won't stop quaking,
Please God forgive us … we're so fearful.

Seriously ... what are we doing to ourselves!

Re: So Fearful

brilliant poem TF, respect.

governments and countries are run by the money men, bankers, billionaires, industrialists. regardless of how much say we the common people are told we have, at the end of the day (and i hate that saying) it's the guys (and gals) that sign the cheques that call the shots. whether it's lending money to fund a war or refusing to grant a mortgage because you're in the wrong profession!

if the people that had all the billions gave just a quarter of it, world debt could be a thing of the past. and poverty in what is laughingly termed the "developed countries" could be eliminated. but they'd rather blow it on private jets, ferraris and private islands. it suits them to keep the poor....poor.

ask one question, who are those nuclear bunkers for? not us, we're cannon fodder. it's for the governments and billionaires that will (?) start the new world.

sorry if you've had to read this, but it's off my chest now and i feel better.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.
