Topic: Opinions on Wah Pedals

I'm considering a new wah pedal. The Morley combo pedal I have has a very thin sound to it, and so it basically just gets used as a volume pedal. The front runners are these two, which both have an initial sound that I like, as well as the ability to adjust both the width and the length of the effect:

Has anyone had any expereince with either of these, and what can you tell me about tone, features (good or bad), durability, reliability, etc. All feedback (pun intended) gratefully received!

Re: Opinions on Wah Pedals

My experience with Morley is similar to yours. They just sound thin. Not sure of your price range, but the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe is simply wonderful.

I've never used pedals but my brother loves the cry baby.

Re: Opinions on Wah Pedals

Thanks guys.

The Fulltone Clyde Deluxe sells for $100 more than these two, but that's not out of the question to get something that sounds good, and it also has the adjustments I'd like to have. Appreciate the input, BGD.

Re: Opinions on Wah Pedals

We have both the standard Crybaby and a VOX, very similar, but the ability to shape the sound is a nice thing to have.  Or you can look into a digitech unit even though its digital, you can then shape all kinds of functions into it. classic to Ya Ya to pitch shift.  http://www.amazon.com/DigiTech-EX7-Expr … B000L0I088

Re: Opinions on Wah Pedals

Thanks, Beamer ...

That's some great info to work with. I appreciate your time to dig it out. I first used a wah when I was subbing (guitarist broke his arm) in a soul / funk band back in High School. I had about 2 weeks to work with it before our first gig, and it was quite a learning curve. I then noticed guitarists like Mick Box (Uriah Heep), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), and Steve Howe (Yes) used them from time to time, and in different ways than the funk-style of music used them. Can't imagine not having it available now.

Thanks again!

The Cry Baby is a classic, as is the VOX.  Used well, few things sound better.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: Opinions on Wah Pedals

Not yet, Beamer ...

I tried out several, and the Ibanez is the hands-down winner. Now I'm starting to save spare cash until I can buy it ... I'm not one to use credit for "toys". A pic will be posted once it's under-foot.

Thanks for asking!

Re: Opinions on Wah Pedals

I ordered this Ibanez WD7 wah pedal last week, and was informed yesterday that it's unavailable until mid-August.

This seems to be a common pattern when I've ordered stuff for the past year or more, whether it's tools (router), household items (air conditioner), car parts (tires), or music gear (wah, locking tuners). Most stores are focused on cheaply-made, entry-price junk, and won't carry quality inventory anymore. I hate wasting my dough on trash, and am happy to buy better quality to get better performance and longer life. Have we become so addicted to paying the lowest price, that we don't care how or where it's made?

Grrrrr ...
