Topic: Marketplace question

After collecting instruments and effects for most of my 40 years on this planet, I’ve decided it’s time for a great purge.  I will of course post all my items here first but I’m wondering where else online is the best place to sell gear? Is it eBay? Are there niche sites dealing only in music equipment? I’m not much of a seller so I have little if any experience here.  Thanks all!

Re: Marketplace question

Try hitting up JoeyJoeyJoey.  He seems to buy and sell quite a bit.

I check eBay pretty regularly, and I know of one bricks and mortar guitar store that sells a fair number of their trades on eBay rather than through their own storefront.

Check with me before you sell any chorus pedals that could be used somehow on my voice.  Or talent enhancers.  I need about six of those that go to 11.

Re: Marketplace question

Acoustic Guitar Forum has an active "for sale" section, although it is primarily (surprise!) for acoustic guitars. Reverb is an awesome place to buy and sell. There are also Gibson and Martin forums that have for sale sections.

Re: Marketplace question

Thanks all.

If anyone’s interested I have two crybabies, one original and one Jimi Hendrix, an eh nano holy grail reverb, a visual sound h20 chorus/delay pedal, an mxr dyna comp, a rocktron banshee, an electro harmonix POG, a digital delay by hard wire, and an electro harmonic worm if anyone is interested in gear.  I also have a voodoo labs power hub.

For guitars I have a Jerry Jones baby sitar.

Re: Marketplace question

I've found reverb.com to be an effective buy/sell market for musical instruments, and apparently they have cheaper fees than eBay ...

My apology to both of you. I did not read every post and should have.

Re: Marketplace question

No dramas, but I was answering this part of the OP (as was, I assume, BGD):

but I’m wondering where else online is the best place to sell gear?

Cheers

Re: Marketplace question

I have 6 guitars in a music store that handles consignments. Along with an old Electro Voice mic. and mini amp and cabinet. It takes time. They do all the dirty work and there is no dealing with no shows, low balling or critics. Of course with me, any money goes as credit for something else.  I have tried the Craigslist route. It was more aggravation than it is worth.

1. What are the best ways to attract sellers?

2. What makes you a good seller?

3. In order to prevent disintermediation, how can you keep your marketplace "sticky"?

4. How would you describe your monetization strategy?

5. What steps are you taking to streamline fulfillment?

6. What makes your marketplace attractive to buyers?
