Re: friday's blues fix

One of the great Mississippi blues-men from days gone by. Willie "lived hard and died young" (46) ... another beauty, Badeye!

Re: friday's blues fix

That is awesome.

The beginning Harp was a little muffled (Maybe that's the way it is supposed to be  ??? ) - but when they got to band playing it took off like a rocket.  The singer is the perfect embodiment of the blues - looks like he just got done with a shift at work - picked up the strat and started hammering blues!!!

Thanks for the find Badeye !!

Re: friday's blues fix

I enjoyed this one and thought the Harp sounded good. It was the sound guy that was at fault and not the Harp player. All of them sounded good. True blues.

Re: friday's blues fix

Amazing stuff, Badeye! The dude on the harp is really good, and that cat on the Tele ain't too bad either ... thanks, ya done it again!

Good question, TIG ...

I've toyed with one off and on (have a couple of Hohner "Marine Band" ones) but have never made significant progress. My late father was brilliant with one, but I've never found a way to control my drooling when playing. If I tip my head back I choke, and if tipped level or forward, it is literally dripping out of the harp in a matter of minutes.

As a side note, I grew up hearing it called a "mouth organ". When I started hearing people calling it a harp, I never understood why ... short for "harmonica"? A harp is a completely different stringed instrument, whereas "mouth organ" seems to more accurately describe how it works. Comparing operating mechanics, Pan Flutes and Melodicas are really mouth organs.

You amaze me that you keep outdoing yourself. Every Saturday morning when I open up your links, I get a great performance. Matt Murphy is awesome.  I wish i could either play like him or even just move my eyebrows like him! smile

You know it's hot blues when both your feet are tapping along and your head is bobbing up and down   while listening.

Happy weekend Bad eye !  (I also liked your poem on Earth!)
