Topic: Power conditioners

I recently purchased a power conditioner off Amazon.

The basement is wired all on one braker!   In WA the moisture in the power lines I'm sure also does not help.  I had a constant HUMMM through my amps, and it had to be a grounding issue.  So after replacing many patch and instrument cables, I found the above item.  Read the reviews, and some showed the inside, and a guy was stating "all it is a few resisters added to a power strip in a fancy case."   Well maybe so, but after this price point, it got stupid expensive.  I am totally pleased.  Yes the lead could be a bit longer, but that just adds noise back in,   it does what it claims to do very well big_smile  No more HUMMM and with that new tube amp, it was very noticeable + why not protect the investment?

For the price, its a great addition to your set up.

Re: Power conditioners

Good fix to a complex problem, Beamer.

When I wired my basement a number of years ago, I put in a separate IG circuit (independent ground) in the rec room where my gear was going to be, as well as a couple of GFI outlets (ground fault interrupter) on that line. Like you said, why not protect the gear. It was during the building phase, so there was no fishing wires through walls to do it ... pretty simple actually.

Re: Power conditioners

Thats  small price to pay to protect your equipment, good choice Beamer.  Having the entire basement on one breaker seems like a huge risk. When I rewired my house and work shop I put in dedicated circuts for the computers and in my work shop each wall has its own breaker, might be overkill, but I feel safer about it.

Live in the "now" - a contentment of the moment - the past is gone - the future doesn't exist - all we ever really have is now and it's always "now".

Yea I feel the same way!  but it is what it is. I cant afford to re wire, or even have conduit run around the outside of the house to bring another line for the TV's and toys.  My garage is the same way. wired into the Microwave circuit. if I have my bright lights on, and a buffer and a radio, as soon as someone wants to heat something,, POP. reset.  I just hang a sign on the Microwave now that says TELL DAD FIRST!
