Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

Hope every one is good?  I will put a cover up this month that I did  a  while back done on my friends slide guitar. It is a cover of a Rolling Stone song As ususual recorded just on my cell phone.                                                                                                                                                                                                     https://soundcloud.com/eatleville/you-got-the-silver

Peatle ........  this is a really good one of yours.   I know I enjoyed it last time I listened to it too.   I just love the slide guitar, it has such and awesome sound and you play it very well.  Makes me want to learn to play one but don't know if I have that natural "blues" sound vocally ......... one of your talents is your blues style.  Well done you smile

Grah1 .....  You and your friend should be very proud of that piece, well written and performed by you both, good one smile

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

Hi all
As Jan has declared this month an open one smile I thought put this one up.
July Garden. A chill out all guitar instrumental based on the Cannon in D progression.
Record quality is a bit rough as it was done a few years back.

Thanks.

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

Cool  Ark whats  it  recorded  on ?

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

arkady .... that was so good.  I listened a couple of times to it and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I didn't think it was rough at all.   It took my imagineation away to where  I could imagine people dancing to that in a garden in that lovely old fashioned style of Royalty back in the day where they would curtsy and bow before joining hands and proceeding to gently dance around the garden.  So nice, well done.

I think I used an early Audacity to record this one.
It was free download then and good for a beginner.
Thanks for interest.

Instrumentals do have the ability to paint pictures in people minds.and I have in the past been surprised at what are sometimes are pictured.
I can see what you mean smile

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

I have not been around for a while. Taking care of my father's needs has been sucking all my time. Before this came up, I started working on The Wood Brothers' Luckiest Man. I'll give it a go. I was also beginning to learn Neil Young's Human Highway, but I feel like it needs a harmonica solo in it and I haven't quite worked that out and memorized it yet. So I'll do a quick jab at Luckiest Man.

Arkady I thought you'd tell me you used audacity I some times use the same program I thought I could detect  a slight latency in some of the mix. I  find I have to 're position the starting point of each track to combat this .Good track though  .I always enjoy your stuff.

Ark

I liked that a lot - just floats me away to imagining nice places. My first thoughts were, a scene watching my grandchildren play in the yard, secondly, a graduation ceremony, and lastly - I pictured in my mind a photographer going around videotaping the wedding party prior to the wedding.
It was very well done.

Zurf
Also enjoyed your track - I thought the guitar work was excellent.

Thanks to both of you  for sharing
Jim

p.s.
Graham

I tried to use audacity - it was way too complicated for my small mind.  smile

Your most probably right there Graham.
I think I was just glad to get something reasonable recorded then smile
Audacity like all computer multi track recorder software takes time to master. (I'm not sure I ever did smile )

Thanks Jim.
Well that's three things I didn't imagine smile but of course imagination is a personal thing.
I think gentleness and peacefulness was what I was after.
My garden that year was very colourful full flowers etc and I love the chord progression of the Cannon in D and I guess they came together smile

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

Here is my attempt at Heart of Gold, Neil Young.  Hit a few bum notes singing as I am still focusing on learning guitar and the little tricky bits (well tricky for me lol).  Hoping to get a chance to re-record this one but with it bucketing down tonight, my recorder is picking up all the rain noises, so no more recording tonight.  A busy week ahead for me, so not sure I will get another chance to record it, so decided to put this up anyway.

I really liked that Jan simple and stripped back 10  out of 10

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

Jandle I love your style of guitar picking and your voice golden as ever.

Re: JULY 2018 FSTOM - OPEN MONTH

Grah1 .... thanks for having a listen and comments.  Yep it was just me and guitar and nothing fancy, still trying to learn the guitar slowly but surely.  Still avoiding songs with the dreaded F chord on guitar as well lol smile
