Topic: Any Photographers Among Us?

The reason I ask is because I "collect" pictures of old, abandoned motels and theaters..

My preferences are:

1. The Motels: Although I like them all, I most like the ones which advertise "COLOR TV" which each letter of "color" a different color.

2. The Theaters: Same thing. Like them all, but a plus is a marquee with either the name of the theater or the title of the last movie shown with a letter or two missing.

I know there's probably books with both subjects, but a photo from a Chordian would be more meaningful to me.

Thanks

EDIT: Forgot to add, that this should be pure happenstance. Just if you happen to pass one of either on the road or there's one of either in your town.

Funny you should mention that TF.  Several years ago i quit taking photos of all the big smallmouth bass I've caught.  Other than wearing different clothes and me looking a little older, the fish all pretty much looked the same. The walls of my music room are lined with framed pictures of fish caught from rafts, canoes and kayaks on streams all over the US.  My son believes bringing a camera along is a curse that prevents him from catching big fish.  He says he'd rather catch 'em and have people not believe him than bring along a camera and not catch any bigguns.  Kinda like bringing along an umbrella seems to keep it from raining. smile

First, Richard: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You other Two: Go stand in the corner and take your basses with you! smile Just kidding. I knew it would be a long shot at best asking y'all that, but it's one of those things where you never know. I did a cross-country bicycle ride several years ago and rode through the town where Bonnie & Clyde got shot and passed one of those motels I was talking about.

Thanks!

So true, DE ...

Back when I was guiding (mostly wading / fly fishing for trout) I used to take lots of pics, and give my client(s) a CD full of them afterwards as a memento of the trip. On one occasion, my client said to me: "Sheesh ... you didn't tell me there'd be paparazzi !" big_smile

Zurf, thank you! That photo will make a great "intro" page for the  "Abandoned Motels" section!

There are all kinds of Facebook pages devoted to abandoned buildings. Try some of them.

Re: Any Photographers Among Us?

Hey Bill!  I was thinking of you earlier today as we wandered the smoke filled streets of Vanderhoof BC.
We came across the following and I thought you might get a kick out of it.

The whole of BC seems to be ablaze and as we travel further east toward home in Prince George it just gets thicker with every mile (Kilometer to us;)

All the best!
Jim

Re: Any Photographers Among Us?

Thanks, Jim! One can sure see that low hanging smoke over the theater, there. Are they any closer to getting that fire out? It started in a barn as I understand. Y'all take care of yourselves and each other and thanks for the shot!
