Topic: Worst songwriter in Nashville

I`m sitting here in
Wellington New Zealand
writing songs that only i understand
simple songs with basic chords
and ordinary words
if i lived there
i`d be  the worst songwriter in Nashville
they craft their songs
with melodies and words that can break your heart
but i don`t care
if i lived there
i`d be the worst songwriter in Nashville

Re: Worst songwriter in Nashville

I can't remember the exact saying, nor who said it, but it's something like "It's better to be a fool among kings than a king amonst fools" .... smile

Re: Worst songwriter in Nashville

I mostly understand your songs and they're usually pretty good, just like this poem, so don't put yourself down. As for Nashville....the songwriters there (in the past) have taken the three chord trick to new heights, if it wasn't for the words they'd all be the same song. Not knocking country as a whole, there are some brilliant songs and artistes, especially the ones that have moved with the times.

I also don't know who made that statement, but I like it.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Thanks - I haven't had the opportunity to use it for a while (and wasn't implying EB is a fool ... smile)

Re: Worst songwriter in Nashville

easybeat I like your poem . I have written some original classical guitar music that is to play but no words.

Music is what feelings sound like.
Music is life, that why our hearts have beats.

Great poem, EB ... I always love your sideways cynicism, if I can call it that. Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) once said something to the effect, that if he was ever complimented for having written a first-rate pop song, he'd consider it both an insult and a wake up call.
