Re: Blues Friday New Page

Joe's an exceptional talent, and I'm glad you gave him this week's spotlight. I've seen him cover a lot of different types of music, and even though blues is his forte he's been amazing at every one. This is a great song, and very well done!

Re: Blues Friday New Page

Thank you Jim. As good as he plays guitar it is his  voice that makes his songs work best.

Just found this guy who evidently played with Jeff Healey for a while. Am I the only person who doesn't know about Philip Sayce? He's crazy good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNFXb44iJ98

Re: Blues Friday New Page

Baldguitardude I do not think what he plays or the venue is true blues. He is a great player but blues??

Re: Blues Friday New Page

Really good selection, CG ... thank-you. I wasn't familiar with Crystal, as she's considered a country & western performer, which is a genre I don't follow closely. She's got a terrific voice, really well suited to blues.

Re: Blues Friday New Page

Jim thank you. She was a country  singer originally because of her parents and changed to blues because it was what she wanted and fit better. Her tour is total blues and she has won several blues awards so once her site is changed to a new one it will show just blues in the future. Her US tour is 100% just blues.  She is from Canada and still lives there but her current tour is all in the US.

Re: Blues Friday New Page

He's exceptional on the harmonica, CG ... very talented. I have to admit that Israel is not a country that comes to mind when I think of blues music, but Mr. Hammer has just changed that for me. You're introducing me to a lot of musicians I'd never heard of, and this is another terrific find. Thank-you!

Re: Blues Friday New Page

This week I am featuring Cee Cee James who was an amazing  Blues Singer, and from St. Lewis, Missouri. Long story after having both both knees replaced that took 2 years  and when she was gong to come back to singing, her husband who was also the lead guitar player was diagnosed with cancer. She then took time off with him and when the scan was clean  it came back with a vengeance so he died . All though still alive, she retired and never came back to performing. In her time she won every every major award in blues singing. One person wrote if Janis Joplin ha had a daughter it would have been  Cee Cee. By the way sister became  Cee Cee so that is how she got her name.
