Topic: JX3 passed his addiction to me NGD again!

Yes, Yes I did it again

https://www.rondomusic.com/product10151.html

I have been looking for a good used electric 12 string for a while.  What I find is either junk or way expensive.

So doing the budget minded thing I looked once again at the Danelectro and the Agile.  Both comparable in price within 20 bucks.

The Agile:
Vintage P90 pickups for that classic "twang"
Semi-hollow mahogany body and single crescent-shaped opening
22 fret maple set neck with ebony fret-board and graphite nut
By popular request, position markers are located on the side of the neck, not on the fretboard
Jumbo 2.7 mm frets and a 13.7" (350 mm) radius neck for fast play
Tune-O-Matic bridge with 12 individual saddles
Die-cast Grover tuners with 18-1 ratio for ultra fine tuning
Vintage cream colored binding on body, neck, and headstock
Chrome pickguard
One volume control and two tone controls help you find your sound
Stop-bar tailpiece transfers string vibration to the body of the guitar and produces superior sustain
Octave style stringing
Measurements
Overall length, including the strap button: 42"
Scale length: 24 3/4"
Width of the neck at the nut: 1 3/4"
Width of the neck at the 22nd fret: 2 3/16"
Thickness of neck at the first fret: 11/16"
Width of body at the widest point: 13 1/4"
Body thickness at edge: 1 3/4"
Weight: only 9 pounds!
COST $459.95
=========================================
The Danelectro :
Shorthorn shape with f-hole
Scale length: 25″
Number of frets: 21
Fully adjustable 12 string bridge
2 lipstick® pickups
1 master volume
1 master tone
3 way pickup selector
COST $449.00

Sweet....

My pal Adrian has a 12 string Burns that sounds fabulous, he also has the 6 string version as played by Hank Marvin during the early 60's. And like you has lots of other guitars too. Enjoy your purchase, I bet you cant wait?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: JX3 passed his addiction to me NGD again!

I showed my new girlfriend what I bought.  If you remember she was with me when I just not too long ago bought the Schecter.  she says "Don't you have a lot of guitars already?  I preceded to send her 6 memes on the topic. LOLOLOL

Her reply was "OK I get it. Guitars Guitars Guitars".

Well that was easy.  big_smile

I love to hear that jangly 12 string sound. That's going to be lots of fun. Enjoy every moment.

I almost passed over this, cause I thought it was a spam topic; but that's a nice axe!! I keep looking at Rondo and thinking I should order some stuff from there, but the urge and the finances haven't yet matched up ....

Re: JX3 passed his addiction to me NGD again!

I`m actually down to 28 now. It gets addictive. Now I won`t buy anymore until I sell enough to pay for another one. One for sale is a Danelectro 12 String for $350.00.

Nice looking guitar, JJJ ... is this the one you bought?

They clearly were going for the Rickenbacker look, but with a lot smaller price tag. I have to ask: would you consider the Agile a step-up from your Danelectro?

YEP IT IS!! like I said, and joey can give a first hand opinion, but from all I see and see on E bay and reverb, there are A LOT of the dano's for sale.

Looked on youtube and there are no   vids of this particular model from Rhondo.  So Ill check it out of the box and after set up. doing vids for each.

Re: JX3 passed his addiction to me NGD again!

My mistake, Beamer ... I got lost at the "JJJ" intersection when it was you who bought it, not Joey. Again, fantastic looking guitar, and it probably sounds super sweet.

Re: JX3 passed his addiction to me NGD again!

The problem with selling them is that you get about 20% of the value -
it's similar to automobiles - soon as it leaves the lot - re-sale value plummet's like a stone in water.
Might as well keep it.  I'm at 12 and that where I will stay. I don't need any more and don't really want to sell at a huge loss.
Someone on here once put a quote out that said something like " My biggest fear is that my wife is going to sell off my guitars after I die for what I told her I paid for them ! "   smile

My wife's favorite -  "  you spend big $ on a new guitar b/c you say you can hear the difference, but you can't her me calling you from the kitchen to take the garbage out! "

I think mine ( and probably Beamer's) is  " You can't buy happiness, but you can buy guitars, and that's close enough for me !"  ::)
That's just my humble opinion as a guitar player that doesn't really even play smile

Nice collection. I would love to get down to that many. I see mine in a different light than you do.

Re: JX3 passed his addiction to me NGD again!

My wife asks me " so how many guitars can you play at the same time?" so I say, " well, Steve Howe has one slung over his shoulder, one on a stand in front of him and a pedal steel on it's own stand!  I've also seen Joe Walsh with 2 guitars shoulder slung". She comes back; " so why do you need 8 of them gathering dust around the house? You certainly ain't Joe Walsh or Steve Howe" (I made that up, she's never heard of Yes or the Eagles)

So, why does she have 30 pairs of shoes? she can only wear one pair at a time! I've never said that out loud either.LOL

Thanks - every one of them is a different story - as I was unpacking them, so many memories come flooding back; like the silver G707 in the front (extreme right), that I played at a gig in Fremantle and they had no stairs to the stage, so as I hoisted myself up, guitar in hand, I split the groin of my black trousers .... look back and laugh.

I'm curious about how you see yours?

Cheers

How do I see them?? Compensation. For me, they are nothing but a series of bad decisions I made during a bad time. I just put 3 more on consignment this afternoon. .
