Topic: Can`t Complain

At the end of the month i left my shop
i closed the door
and locked the lock
walked down the street
and didn`t look back
shopping online and recession
but pandemic the final nail
theres a sign in the window
for lease it says
well good luck with that
now settled in my daily routine
so i can`t complain
got home and family
there are others at this time
not as fortunate as me

EB good Poem.  There will be many brick and mortar retailers in  the situation your poem describes plus many food, drink and entertainment places in that situation this year.
Only up side will be the courier companies are experiencing growth due to online shopping and the covid.

Re: Can`t Complain

Yeah Pete i guess you have noticed the empty shops and cafes around town.
Thought it would make a good subject for a poem.
Hopefully there will be a light in the future for these business owners.

Re: Can`t Complain

Very topical and unfortunately too true. The days of browsing and touching the real thing in a shop not to mention getting a true account from someone that knows a bit about it seem to be gone. One day (like the apprentice scheme) we'll need these skills and shops but they'll be gone!
Your poem isn't just a poem but a warning for the future...well done Mr. Orwell.
