Topic: AUGUST 2022 FSOTM – TOMORROW, FLOWERS, WITHOUT, WHISKEY

Hi everyone, here we are into another month already.
For the MONTH of AUGUST, looking for any SONG with the following words in the lyrics.   These 4 different words are:  TOMORROW… FLOWERS …WITHOUT… WHISKEY.
You can perform any song you like, so long as it has at least one of those words somewhere in it.
Some suggestions that have been made by members are:

Neophytte suggested : More than I can say – Leo Sayer
Neophytte also suggested: Anyone but me – Phil Williams

Grah1 suggested:  Tomorrow never comes – by Grah1 and the chords can be found in the Suggestions for August Topic.

Zurf suggested: Trampled by Turtles - Ain't No Use in Trying
Zurf suggested: The Wild Rover
Zurf suggested: Whiskey in the Jar - Dubliners first, but Beamer knows Metallica's version.
Zurf suggested Walkin' Cane - by Robert Earl Keen.
Zurf suggested: Whiskey River – Willie Nelson
Zurf also suggested that someone should write a song about "Tomorrow I'll buy flowers and go without whiskey"  or vice versa, as the case may be.

Once again, you can perform any of the above suggestions for this month or you can do a song you have found that may not have been suggested.   As long as it has one or more of those words in the lyrics and you can perform as many songs as you like.
It can be a COVER, ORIGINAL and or INSTRUMENTAL, you decide.  Looking forward to what you all come up with.

READY!  SET!  GO!

EB it is good to hear your voice and guitar coming through nice and clear also your guitar and vocals work real good.

Re: AUGUST 2022 FSOTM – TOMORROW, FLOWERS, WITHOUT, WHISKEY

This my entry for August is called When Flowers Bloom. It is winter here and my garden has taken a bit of hiding  mostly due to strong cold winds though there are some flowers in my garden that the petals haven't been destroyed. .  . It was a bit hard going on my fingers but I managed to squeeze out a tune on the guitar for this one in a style I don't normally play but my Maree likes to listen to. It was just recorded on my cell phone no fancy mikes or anything. I tried to write some simple but easy to remember lyrics.
   When Flowers Bloom
When flowers bloom
When flowers bloom
My spirits zoom
When flowers bloom
When flowers bloom
My spirits zoom
I can't wait
When Flowers bloom
My spirits zoom
And things seem good again

Peatle
for a simple little song that had a lot going for it.
the only thing missing was a drummer playing with brushes.

Cheers Brian a old style drumming with brushes would most probably help lift my bad vocals and guitar playing. I'm looking forward to hearing more people entering some songs this month.

Oh man! Don't put yourself down. I enjoyed it.

But yeah - some brushes would have added to the smoky jazz vibe of the song.

Cheers Zurf I could imagine playing that song with a jazz trio in a smoke filled Speak Easy in the American prohibition era. Though I suspect a song about whisky would go down better with a Speak Easy crowd than a song about flowers. wink

That would be an excellent song to hear you do with a  Banjitar Grah.

I did suggest it, but would love to hear you perform it on banjitar regardless.

That came out good Grah . The banjitar would go good while playing a kick drum and singing I would imagine also.

OK as usual I couldn't resist the challenge of using them all in an original..... smile
TOMORROW… FLOWERS …WITHOUT… WHISKEY.
so here it is .. bluesy, country song

Everything In The World To Me by Jim Kenyon

.

Verse 1

[Em]Seems we’re always waiting for tomorrow

[Em]believing something good will happen then

And [Em]the nighttime whispers better times are coming

but it [B7]never seems to [Am]want to tell you [Em]when

.

Verse 2

[Em]So I’ve been living in a world of yesterdays

[Em]Where you only remember things you love

Just [Em] like the smile of a woman who’s gone away

and some [B7] whiskey for [Am] when you’ve had [Em]enough

.

Chorus

[Am]So I’m waiting for a new day to make me[Em] happy

And [Am] let my heart feel again what love used to [Em]be

But i [Am] don’t want tomorrow to start without[Em] her

Because she’s[B7] everything in the [Am]world to [Em]me

.

Verse 3

Yeah [Em] I loved her like wild flowers love the sun

[Em]But she told me she needed something more

She [Em] said it was something I couldn’t understand

Right as [B7] she turned and [Am]walked out the [Em]door

.

Chorus

[Am]So I’m waiting for a new day to make me[Em] happy

And [Am] let my heart feel again what love used to [Em]be

But i [Am] don’t want tomorrow to start without[Em] her

Because she’s[B7] everything in the [Am]world to [Em]me

Jim you have a clever way of putting lyrics together. I enjoyed hearing you sing and play it on Soundcloud in your unique way.

Re: AUGUST 2022 FSOTM – TOMORROW, FLOWERS, WITHOUT, WHISKEY

Hi everyone, awesome to see all these entries this month and for everyone having ago at FSOTM.  I am struggling to get online presently as still away on holiday in the South Island and some places such as the Milford Sounds just does not have internet.  Anyway, i managed to listen tonight to some, the rest will have to wait until I return to Wellington next week as very limited internet where we are at the moment.

Anyway, Brian, that was your best singing yet, you have definitely been practicing, you performed, sang that one really well.  Give yourself a big pat on the back smile.

Peatle, it sounded great.  You performed it well, I like what you did with it.  I would have given you a like but I am using my hubbies acct.

Grah, good to see you have recovered enough to be able to perform in FSOTM.  An oldie but a goodie that song.  The banjitar suits the song too of course, though like any banjo, it tends to make the vocals a little harder to hear.

With that, will have to listen to the rest when I get home and have decent internet access.
