Topic: OCTOBER 2022 FSOTM - DREAMING, PICTURE, ELECTRONIC, REMEMBER

Wow, OCTOBER already!!!  This month, looking for SONGS with any of the following WORDS in them.  The FOUR WORDS are; DREAMING …. PICTURE …. ELECTRONIC …. REMEMBER.

Once again, it can be a COVER SONG or an ORIGINAL SONG.   It can have one of the words somewhere in the song or more than one of the words in the song, it can have all 4 of the words in the song if you want.  You know what to do by now smile

WORDS were suggested for this month of OCTOBER by Chordie members neophytte and TIGLJK.  So, their suggestions were put in a hat and these FOUR WORDS were drawn out.

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with this month.

READY!  SET!  GO!

EB nice blues country guitar and vocal on that one. A double bass player and a drummer using brushes and you would make it the full package on that song.

Brian, really nice performance by you and I agree with Peatle, loved the Blues, Country sound to it.  Extra special when it's one of your own songs, played by yourself and sung by yourself.    Well done and you get an award for being the first to start this month on FSOTM once again, awesome smile

Re: OCTOBER 2022 FSOTM - DREAMING, PICTURE, ELECTRONIC, REMEMBER

Well, I struggled with the word ELECTRONIC for this month's FSOTM, so I wrote this instead.

ELECTRONIC Poem

I been thinking about songs
Using the word ~electronic~
It had me bamboozled
Something chronic.
I tried to make it harmonic
Something iconic
But nothing came to me
My ideas very embryonic.
So, I sat down and visualised it
It had to be symphonic
Pictured it all lit up
All ~electronic~
Then the word faded
As I sipped my gin and tonic
Oh well, I will go watch my Panasonic.

Ha! Very witty .. I also struggled to find anything with the word electronic in; I had about 3 songs from artists I knew, but didn't know the actual song, so went with the word remember in this song I performed live. It has the line "Remember me I used to live for music, remember me, I brought you groceries in", which is here:

Nice one Richard.

That is super acoustic guitar playing - seems like a few different strum patterns were involved.  I almost thought there was another guitarist playing with you off camera.  Also liked the pauses of the guitar  to emphasis the important section of the lyrics. Well done.   Jim

A fun song about a night a lot of us have experienced ! smile

Last Night By Jim Kenyon

Chorus

[G] Might've fell in love last night, I [C] find it quite I[G]ronic

[G]think it's even worse than when Dylan went ‘lect[D]ronic

Oh it’s [G] driving me so crazy, I’m [Bm] feeling like Miss [C] Daisy

I must be [G] dreaming ‘cause my [D]mind’s a little [G]hazy

.

Verse 1

I [Em]fell so darn [G] hard that I [C] let down my [G] guard

And I [Em] don’t remember [G] much, but I’m al[D]right

got this [Em] picture in my [G]mind, that [C] things’ll work out [G] fine

just can’t wait to find out [D]what I did last [G] night

.

[G][G] [C] [G][G] [G][G] [D] [D]

[G][G][Bm] [C] [G][D][G] [G]

.

Verse 2

don’t [Em]remember leavin’ [G] town, if her [C]hair' is black or[G] brown

but I [Em] sure can’t for[G] get how she made me [D] feel

well [Em] whiskey makes your [G] head spin round [C] leave you laying on the [G] ground

now I only have to [D] find out if she's [G] real

.

Chorus

[G] Might've fell in love last night, I [C] find it quite I[G]ronic

[G]think it's even worse than when Dylan went ‘lect[D]ronic

Oh it’s [G] driving me so crazy, I’m [Bm] feeling like Miss [C] Daisy

I must be [G] dreaming ‘cause my [D]mind’s a little [G]hazy

.

Verse 3

Now [Em] all my money’s [G] spent, don’t know [C] how I’ll pay the [G] rent

but I’ve [Em] got her number,[G] so I think it's meant to [D]be

well [Em] my head might be [G]aching, but my [C]heart isn’t [G]faking

only hope that when I [D]call she knows it's [G]me

.

Fade out

yeah last [D]night left my [C]mind a little[G] hazy

yeah last [D]night might've [C]been a little [G]crazy

Peatle, thanks for having a read of my poem, I had to think a bit about that one, a tricky word big_smile

neophytte,  thanks for the comments on my poem, lol I was smiling to myself as it came together big_smile
Nice acoustic guitar on your song and agree with Tigljk about it being interesting and sounding great with the different strum strokes.  I liked the intro to it.   I could hear someone in the audience occasionally tapping along in time to your performance, it made me think how much this particular song would be next level with a drumbeat.  Good to hear the audience joining in too with their singing.  The only thing I would say otherwise, is maybe the vocals could have been a bit louder as the guitar was quite loud and at times overtook your vocals.

easybeat, thanks very much re comments on my poem (wanting to say "me poem" in a Pam Ayers kinda way). big_smile

TIGLIJK, thanks very much for comment as well, a long time since I have written anything poem or song smile
That is another brilliant piece of song writing and all the words to boot.  I don't know how you do it, but you do.  I really hope one of the guys on here or yourself will perform this one as I would like to hear it.

Jim. that is brilliant how you composed your tronic or elec song using all the words for October's chordies song of the month.

Re: OCTOBER 2022 FSOTM - DREAMING, PICTURE, ELECTRONIC, REMEMBER

Any more entries for this month? I must admit to struggling a bit with the words this month for some reason.  Hopefully I can still find a song to do for it.

Zurf you're missing in action the last couple of months with your entries to FSOTM.  I always enjoy what you enter.

Roger, you seem to have disappeared to after a good start to FSOTM, hope you can join us again.

Thanks - this one is a bit of an old favourite of mine; especially with the capo on 2, it goes with my gritty vocals.

I was thinking of taking your poem and doing a Noel Coward styled tune out of it, but time was against me again this month. I still have some videos to edit,  but other priorities have take a higher precedence ...

Thanks for the comments on the song, this was a totally acoustic gig (which scared the hell out of me, as I have a soft voice and a loud guitar, and also tend to strum too hard), so no mics or amps anywhere (one lady had an amp for her uke-bass which was frowned upon, but accepted) and I'm not used to playing like that. My "totally pro" setup is having an iPhone SE on a tripod where I was sat, so you can often hear audience participation better than the guitar (as the mic is sat amongst the people), and it also surprised me when I heard it back that they were singing along. You can hear in my other song above where the guy behind was coughing close to the start of the song, which was probably louder than the song itself ....

That's a nice song, I commented on the other thread as well ....

Cheers

neophytte, I had to listen hard to that song to hear the word `remember`, then finally towards the end lol.   Well done smile
