Re: NOVEMBER 2022 FSOTM – ANYTHING TO DO WITH WATER

Jan , Jim,  Jeff the three J's and Piri and Richard here today in  NZ is a gentle rainy   20c Spring  day .  I have enjoyed doing a catch up reading and hearing everyone entries for this month. Thank you everyone it is good to see chordie getting some life back to it again.  Due to ganglion cysts and other issues with my hands making it too painful and hard to play guitar and piano I will most probably have to be a observer instead of being a participant for a while. Keep up the good work everyone.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 FSOTM – ANYTHING TO DO WITH WATER

Sorry to hear that Pedr, can anything be done?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 FSOTM – ANYTHING TO DO WITH WATER

Hope  it  clears  up  soon Peatle  take    care.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 FSOTM – ANYTHING TO DO WITH WATER

Thank you Piri,  Grah and Brian, in the short term I won't be playing music but I'm hoping with help from the medical people that we will find a way to start playing again but it looks like that might take a while.

Here`s my very quick attempt tonight to cover a song for the month.   Finding it a bit difficult to record anything let alone play/sing anything at the moment as we are renovating and the room I play in and record in is fill of furniture.  A bit of a mission to set up the recording gear.  Very rusty as haven't been playing or singing much lately.

Loved that Jan. I detected no rust. Your uke was jamming and your voice was sweet and lovely!

Thanks jets60 for having a listen and your comments.   It will be nice to have all the furniture out of this room so I can setup properly but I`m not complaining, glad renovations are happening smile

So, I realized that I have already recorded this song for FSOTM  3 months ago duh, totally forgotten I had, only difference was I recorded it on Garage band to try it out https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/my-so … e-you-seen

Peatle, I hope your able to get your hands sorted soon, must be quite annoying for you not to be able to play guitar and piano.  As easybeat said, at least you can still write songs and poetry which I know your good at and enjoy smile

That was a nice tune, I liked the way you stuck on the one chord in the middle 8 - that was actually a good break in the tune ...

Peatle, you might want to go down a guage on your strings, some of the guys at the acoustic club I go to are doing that, and finding it a bit better. YMMV ...

It was short, but a good tune ... ! Your videos are always a joy to watch - one day I'll get you to do one for me smile

Did you do this one before? It's a good version, but can hear that rusty element. It's pretty good considering those facts ....

Jan and Richard thank you for your encouraging words and advice,
Richard your guitar and backing vocal worked good with the lady lead vocal.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 FSOTM – ANYTHING TO DO WITH WATER

You sing this song with a ton of attitude. Very enjoyable and great to hear you sing and play again, you got the uke/voice mix perfect. You may not believe this but I've only recently heard this song for the first time? Well done.

Re: NOVEMBER 2022 FSOTM – ANYTHING TO DO WITH WATER

neophytte, nice vocals from Lesley and nice guitar work from you.   Thanks for the comment on my song and yes as I mentioned under my reply to Jets60, I had recorded this song b4 on garage band which I had totally forgotten about.

Thanks, Phill, for taking a listen and comments.    Oh wow, amazed you hadn't heard this song until recently, an oldie but a goodie smile

That is wickedly awesome ! Love the ending - sounds like an organ or elec piano joining in - really gives it some push !
the music flows so easy and smooth  - accented by your voice.
Love the photo as well, grandkids I assume ? Great recording Phill !

Good one Richard preforming live for the people. It was also good that your video catches the crowd applause which shows your skills are coming across good.

Thank you; we did perform that around town quite a bit, that song was quite a few poeople's favourite ...

Oops, sorry I missed that bit, but that sounds a lot more polished ... isn't it amazing that Apple gives away Garage Band for free? My kids use it quite a bit and enjoy it immensely ...

What a great song! Really enjoyed listening to that .... I really like the bass line going with it's fat sound, I think you win FSOTM this month!!!

Thanks Peatle, I had to pick up the organizer of our little get togethers that night, and had been running around and was sweating hard when I did that, missed out on a couple of words (fumbled over them) but concentrated harder on looking less at my iPad and more at the audience. I've also got this one from the same performance:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhtA7e34wBY - Swinging on a star, which has the words A fish don't do anything, but swim in a brook; the recording sounds a bit 'boomy' so I may fix that later.

Also did this one a year and a half ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO9VUoP … p;index=18 - Driving Rain was written by the keyboard player, Alan Burke, who I'm playing with in that video (in his back room). He writes a lot of good songs and we've worked together a fair bit both in bands and acousticly.

Hope you enjoy them!

Cheers

Nice cover of a good old song.  On a side note, the balance was good with vocals and guitar on this one, you got it just right.

neophytte, great to see you performing with a fellow musician.  Great to hear an original song, Driving Rain too and you performed well together.  I liked the backup vocals you added to his song.

Also, your other song, swinging on a star an oldie but a goodie, I haven't heard that in a very long time.
