Topic: APRIL 2023 FSOTM – PRELUDE, SOLITUDE, JUKEBOX, DESPATCHERS, WOWSER ...

Here we are in APRIL already, time is going far too quickly!

This MONTH for APRIL 2023 FSOTM, looking for SONGS with the following WORDS somewhere in the Song or the Title of the Song.

PRELUDE, SOLITUDE, JUKEBOX, DESPATCHERS, WOWSER, CATER.

The SONG or SONGS can be ORIGINALS written by yourselves or a COVER from another person or band.

TIGLJK (Jim Kenyon) our very own Chordie member has written an ORIGINAL song for anyone who would like to cover it, using ALL this MONTH`S WORDS in his song.   Phill Williams (another Chordie member) has already done an excellent COVER of Jim`s song.  Link will be posted in the comments.

Good luck for those other song writers out there and performers for this APRIL FSOTM entries.

Thanks - I still feel it's unfinished as I wanted to take the third verse into somewhere like "from the highest king to the lowliest beggar, sadness come for us all" ... but we recently had ANZAC day over here and I'm a bit weary from all the sad songs I've been hearing ...

I don't know if this is a song or a poem it came to me as I read the other posts. If anyone feels brave enough to put it to music or add some words feel free.


One guy sits in an empty cafe.
Solitude as the jukebox plays.
Cars drive by outside the glass.
Their lights are blinding as they pass.
It's quiet now for just a while.
Be polite, goodmorning, smile.
A prelude till the rush hour starts.
His job to cater for the daily mass.
Bacon, eggs, sausage, mash.
Another meal with a smile despatch.
Wowser, trousers, skirts, no sleeves.
Suits drink coffee, jeans drink tea.
All cards no cash.
And when they leave he feels so free.
Jukebox plays Bohemian Rapsody.
When the rush hour ends, strangers, friends.
He's all alone once again.

neophytte, that was really good, well written, well sung and well played, you nailed it this month, I applaud you.   Side little note .... I would still love to hear louder vocals from you smile

Phill, that was awesome, you used all the words, love it.  At first I saw this as a clever poem using all the words but afterwards and maybe because I listen to neophyttes song just before I read your entry, I could also hear your poem/song using the same tune neophytte had to his song on your song, it worked!  Though I am sure you want your own tune put to this, I could so hear it put to the tune of neo`s song.

As for me, I had a song lined up, a cover using the words, prelude and solitude, BUT after many attempts to nail it, FAIL BIG TIME!  So I have given up on it, was getting frustrated I couldn't nail it.  So nothing from me this month sad
