Topic: New mic day

Just  recieved  a  Temu   Sure  SM 58 mic . Havent  tested  it  yet but its obviously fake  . The   Wind  shield  has  a  different   shape    ,not  perectly  round  and  the  central   band  is  thicker , the  logos  are  small   and  the  carry  bag  is  poor  quality . The  biggest  givaway  apart  from the  obvious    price  difference   is  the  weight   the  Temu   one  weighs  100g less  than a  genuine  one
All  this  aside  I  have  had  Temu  replacement  cartridges   for  Sure  mics  in the  past  which  sound  ok .
I'll  plug  it   in later  to  test  it .   but  I'm  certain  its  worth  the  £10   paid   for  it .
More  info  later

Re: New mic day

i paid $60 for a peavy PVI 100 a fer weeks back   at the local music store i am liking it so far

out of tune out of key and out of touch

Re: New mic day

A  low  volume  test    sounds   a  bit  brighter    than a  real   one  so  I suspect  it  wont  reject  feed back  as  good   as  the  real  one   . However   I  also  have  a  fake  SM58  radio  mic which  Is   pretty  good  . Used  to  use  it  when I  ran open micnights  just  for  introducing  the  act  when I  was  at  the  sound  desk .

Re: New mic day

When I was still performing I had 2 mics; a Beyer Dynamic which I used and a Sure PG48 for any Jack'n'ape that fancied they could sing or to make announcements. The last thing you'd want is for some Karaoke champ holding it out at arms length and dropping it on the floor! Sounds like the Temu mic is ideal for that?

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: New mic day

Gave  it  a  propper  test  last  night   and  it  does  sound  bright  compared  to  a  real  SM58   , its    ok  for    a  hand  out  mic  . Ive  never  shared  a  mic  with  any  one   since  I  forgot  to  take  mine  to  a  festival  and  ended  up  with   a throat  infection  which  I  think  came from using the  mics supplied  by  the  sound  guy.
Whe I  used  to  run   open mics   I  would  always   sanitise    the   mics  I  provided  between acts .

Re: New mic day

my friend did a gig the other night and a woman asked to sing a song withthe bad bc it was her birthday. They let her - had to replace the mic bc it was covered with her lipstick
