Topic: The "Dog Days" of Summer

Well, the “Dog Days” of Summer were supposed to be over on August 11th, but down here in the American South, they’re lingering to the point of heat advisories having been issued from noon till 8 pm all week.

With temps of 94 and a heat index of 108 degrees, I’ve been staying in and hydrating. How about you, my dear friends? Staying cool? Weather-wise, I mean. I know how cool y’all are otherwise.

I am heading there tonight Bill!  Going to Topsail Island NC
Hoping for a great beach breeze to keep us cool.

Re: The "Dog Days" of Summer

Hi Bill, down in the South Pacific it is winter here. Though sometimes it can be four season in one day.

Here in the Kiwi winter, the sky’s on the fence,
One moment it shines, the next it clouds up storms rain and hail .
Keeping us in pure suspense.
Sunny yet chilly, we bundle up tight,
Then storms roll in swiftly, a wild winter fright.

Yet through all the chaos, one thing is clear.
The air here is very fresh and crisp, making me smile ear to ear.

Re: The "Dog Days" of Summer

Hi Bill, nice to hear from you. The weather here in the UK is unseasonably hot. My poor old lawn is turning from green to sort of beige colour cos there's a hosepipe ban. Sleeping is difficult as the bed is soaked in sweat. Otherwise it's lovely clear blue sky so suntan weather as long as we keep hydrated and lotioned up. So my friend keep cool and drink plenty of that awful stuff that doesn't taste like beer, oh what's it called oh yeah water, wash my mouth out!

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: The "Dog Days" of Summer

We're expecting another storm next week, probably there is a cyclone up north, or just off the coast ... last one was pretty severe and we got hail, we probably get hail once every 5-10 years. One of the last ones got it's own wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_West … ian_storms ... but today is quite sunny and got the grass cut ...

Cheers

Re: The "Dog Days" of Summer

Not for me to say but...Richard forgot to mention that it's winter in Oz, I was there some years ago and though we thought it was warm, the locals were wearing coats and hats, Margret River(?) was lovely but the sea was cold Richard, You'll probably know what I mean?
