Topic: Stars Guitars

If you could own the actual guitar of any musician, alive or dead, whose guitar would you choose?

I am playing all the right notes - but not necessarily in the right order! [Eric Morecombe]

Re: Stars Guitars

Willie Nelson's Martin classical.  Along with the strap.  I wouldn't play it, though.  Just wonder about it and try to figure out who all the signatures belong to.

Granted B chord amnesty by King of the Mutants (Long live the king).

Re: Stars Guitars

Something real expensive that I could sell for a huge profit and buy lots of decent guitars with!  Maybe just the telecaster that Ralph Macchio used in "Crossroads"

"Nelson's principal guitar is a Martin N-20 nylon-string acoustic, which he has named "Trigger", after Roy Rogers' horse. Constant strumming over the decades has worn a large sweeping hole into the guitar's body near the sound hole. Its soundboard has been signed over the years by over a hundred of Nelson's friends and associates, from fellow musicians to lawyers and football coaches. It is rumored that when the guitar finally wears out beyond playability, he will permanently retire from the music business."

Give everything but up.

Re: Stars Guitars

John Lennons' Rickenbacker or Casino. George Harrisons' Psychodelic painted Strat would also be cool.

Re: Stars Guitars

Jimi Hendrix' 1967 Gibson paisley flying v....................

Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) - while generally regarded as an iconic Stratocaster player, Jimi used several Gibson models including an SG Custom, Flying V, Les Paul Special and a Les Paul Custom. Gibson also gave him two guitars in 1970, a custom Flying V and an ES-345. Both of these guitars were left handed models. Gibson has released a Flying V model replicating his 1967 Flying V including the psychedelic floral design which Hendrix himself had hand painted on the original.

Give everything but up.

Re: Stars Guitars

No contest! it would have to be Brian May's "Red Special"

Would it be greedy to go for St Jimmy's Double neck beast of a guitar?  Two for the price of one so to speak?

Re: Stars Guitars

Bruce Springsteens Fender Esquire,  The one he holds  on the cover of  "Born to Run".

Re: Stars Guitars

Can we include basses?  If so, then I want McCartney's Rickenbacker violin bass.  Man those Ricks play nice.  I saw a 1970 era model 4004 (I think) at a guitar shop and gave it a go.  There wasn't a price tag on it.  I guess it's one of those "If you have to ask you can't afford it" things.   But I played it and it was like someone else was playing 'cause it sounded way better than I know how to do.

Re: Stars Guitars

Or perhaps Peter Greens Les Paul. smile

St Jimmy? Somehow I don't think you mean Billie Joe Armstrong.

No, not Billy Joe - St James Page of the mighty Zeppelin!

Mind you after seeing Green Day last year with 65000 other people in a field, I wouldn't say no to one of his guitars!

And check this guitar out:

Re: Stars Guitars

Saturday 18th June 2005 so not actually last year!  Check it out on "Bullet In A Bible".  One of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I wonder if anyone else spotted the irony of 65000 people singing "Minority" in perfect unison?  Life Of Brian, anyone?

lol

I've got the album, that's why I asked.

Isn't there part of a Python song on there? On king for a day?

That's another guitar I'd have: Billie Joe's Fernandes Strat.
