Topic: Songs about states.

Reading the posts about rain and eyes. Got me thinking about another one.

Songs about states. Not emotional states but United States and not towns or cities that could be another one.

In fact are there any states without a song about them.

Re: Songs about states.

Not strictly about states, but how about "5 State Drive" by Less than Jake?

Re: Songs about states.

Oklahoma - Oklahoma! - Rogers & Hammerstein, from the musical of the same name

New York - New York's Not My Home - Jim Croce

Illinois - Sweet Home Chicago - Magic Sam and about three thousand other blues artists.

Arkansas - Little Rock - current Country star, don't recall his name

Tenessee - RockyTop - "Rocky Top, you'll always be home sweet home to me.  Good old Rocky Top.  Rocky Top, Tenessee" I don't recall the original artist.  Was it Ricky Skaggs?  I don't think he's old enough, but he started when he was three so he got quite a head start.

There's a few to help fill in the list.

Kid Rock sings alot about Michigan,
"Ive been the world and back, but I'm a michigan boy can ya feel that?"
Never met a white boy quite like me... And a bazillion other ones he does say michigan. Does that count?

You're the reason God made Oklahoma- Dont remember who sang it

I think it was the Osbourn brothers,  they may not have been first but they had the biggest hit with it.

Re: Songs about states.

Old Doll,

I never knew the Boudleaux posse were responsible for so many huge hits. This wired box of facts(computer) is a pretty cool little toy. Here's a little sum-sumthin' to shine a little light on the 4 CORNER thingy;

One by Less Than Jake:  "Never Going Back To New Jersey".
So that's all of them then?
