Topic: Which guitar?

I'm thinking about purchasing an electric guitar

Preferably something under $300

Any quality electrics for that price??

(I've been looking at Fender Strats and Gibson SG's a lot)

Re: Which guitar?

Don't get one of Gibson's cheap SG's (they are way overpriced and they suck). Don't worry about the brand name so much. All that matters is that you like the feel and the sound of the instrument.

Go for something used. You will probably be able to get something decent for $300 if you go used. Keep in mind that once you touch it the guitar is used so why not buy that is already used?

I would try to get a used Ibanez, Schecter, Ltd, or Jackson.

Electric:  Schecter C-1, Hot-rodded strat
Acoustic: Ovation Celebrity Deluxe, Epiphone

Keep on rockin' in the free world!

Pawn shops!!! That's where I've purchased most of my instruments. There area some great deals to be found there. I don't think that there is anything "new" on the market that is worth the money. (period) Pawn shops have some great deals on some really awesome instruments. Check 'em out!

Re: Which guitar?

not trying to advertise but i suggest you check out the rondo music website

they sell incredibly high quality but incredibly cheap guitars

Re: Which guitar?

I play a Squire strat and for the price, I can leave the Fender hangin in the shop and buy a good amp. I've owned a number of high end guitars that just don't play as well as some of the cheeper copies out there now. Take your time and try out lots of guitars in all the shops in town. If you're new, get the sales guys to play through some tunes on the instruments your interested in. The best time to do this is when the shop opens in the morning and its not too buisy.  Enjoy the shopping trip for a long long time before you commit. Think of it as an education because once you buy, the guitar is yours and you gotta live with it. Hmmm. Now you've got me in the mood. Lets go shopping! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">
