Topic: Scales

Is anyone able to please recommend a really great tutorial book/website that explains how to play the five pentatonic scales and their positions and all major scales in the first position? (preferably a book as have limited access to t’internet at the mo ... despite my frequent messages on here!)

Have now gotten to the stage where I have realised that these are actually quite important. Have tried to look online but the majority of the explanations are really confusing and make me just want to not try and learn them at all!

Oh also, does anyone have any opinions on ‘Simon & Patrick’ guitars. Looking at possibly buying the ‘SP6 Spruce’.

Cheers guys!

It's light weight, has all the information you'll need, is inexpensive, and fits in your guitar case.

Someday we'll win this thing...

This will show you any scale you need to know anywhere on the guitar neck, any key. Very handy.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: Scales

Intermediate Rock Guitar by Paul Howard ---

Book i used to learn my pentatonics... teaches a lot more than scales...

i can also reccomend going to a workshop to learn them. I highly reccomend the National Guitar Workshop, which has many locations and classes to take.

(the book comes with a cd, so you can practice along)...

$20.95 USD, btw...

Re: Scales

Does that site give any explanations also?

I just have had a very quick look and was pretty confused. Okay there´s some tabs, I guess you´re supposed to play. But I got the feeling, that it doesn´t help much, if I do not understand what I would be playing there.
