Topic: The Worlds best song...?

Witch one is the greatest song through the time in your opinion?
Answer what ever song you like i just want to see what people think.

Re: The Worlds best song...?

Apart from the ones written by James McCormick, Jeff Gilpin, Helena Donovan and the other Chordie songwriters (including myself, of course) it has got to be:

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY by QUEEN

Roger

"Do, or do not; there is no try"

Re: The Worlds best song...?

Oh, what slaya forgot to mention is that anybody who mentions Bohemian Rhapsody will be banned for life from Chordie!

cool

I'm the son of rage and love

Re: The Worlds best song...?

Add Stairway to Heaven to that list, bonedaddy.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: The Worlds best song...?

I like "Closer To The Heart" by Rush.

....Badeye.

one caper after another

Re: The Worlds best song...?

I'd go for 'Jesus of Suburbia' - Green Day.
'Hound Dog' by Elvis is another possibility though, if you're after an older one.

Another one to add to the banned list: Smoke on the Water.

Re: The Worlds best song...?

It's gotta be  "Aint Gonna Bump No More With No Big Fat Woman" by Joe Tex..........

............or maybe "It's Hard To Kiss Those Lips at Night That Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long" by The Notorious Cherry Bombs

Give everything but up.

Re: The Worlds best song...?

"Baby, that is Rock 'n' Roll" by the Coasters.

Ask Jack Black, he'll know...

Re: The Worlds best song...?

Stolen by Dashboard Confessional.

Re: The Worlds best song...?

Basing it solely on my love for sweet guitar playing, Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover tops my list.  Basing it everything, not just guitar, I'd have to say No More Lonely Nights by Paul McCartney.  One more, not just because it's on Guitar Hero, Through The Fire and Flames.

Re: The Worlds best song...?

I'd put "yesterday" in there too but I'd have to mention "Desperado" by the Eagles which gets more and more magnificent every time I hear it....

Re: The Worlds best song...?

For songs I would have to pick epic ballads such as:

Like a Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan
Born To Run, Bruce Springsteen
Tangled Up In Blue, Dylan again
And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda, Eric Bogel

For instrumental music, I am quite fond of the 20th century composer Alan Hovhaness.
His orchestral compositions are vivid and fresh with every hearing.  Even if you have never been a fan of 'serious' music - his compositions are truly amazing.

Re: The Worlds best song...?

In My Life by the Beatles

Re: The Worlds best song...?

'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by George Harrison, you get a beautiful acoustic lily of a song gilded to perfection by the woman tone of Eric Clapton.

'The sound of the city seems to disappear'

Re: The Worlds best song...?

I don't know about the best song ever, but I can bet you've never heard one like "Deathbed" by Relient K.

One of my personal favorites is "Name" by Googoo Dolls.  But all the old classics are great too- and Desperado is definitely up there!

Really, it's impossible to pick the best song of all time because there are SO many great songs out there that can mean so much to you at different times in your life- music is the best!
